Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter with Surface Pro 3 Resolution Problem

Thanks for being the one to tell us the truth Barb, this is a disgrace.

We have this problem on all our Surface Pro 3s at work. Spent the last few months going through the support process to find this out now.

Microsoft needs to push Intel to do something to resolve this as it looks terrible for Microsoft and is extremely frustrating for both users and those in IT support. What a waste of time and money for us to purchase all these Microsoft Surface Pro 3s with Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Bluetooth Mouse and the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapters!!!

The amount of time we have wasted troubleshooting this both by ourselves and with Microsoft Support to be told this now is unacceptable!!!

Microsoft Support have made us take back the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapters and exchange them...and they kept wanting to replace our Surface Pro 3s...what a complete waste of time!!!

And to makes things even worse...not only can you not use a Bluetooth mouse with the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter with the Microsoft Surface Pro 3...you can't even use bluetooth audio when you are doing your presentations with a monitor...you need cables plugged in everywhere...all this completely defeats the purpose of the Surface Pro 3!!!

We want this issue to be resolved.

As the others have mentioned where would be the best place to submit our formal complaint?

I agree. It is a stupid move by Intel. Microsoft apparently won't ask them to

change this behavior without a huge outcry from customers and not enough are

complaining.

Having the same problem! All already said above. I'm only writing to emphasize this is a nasty problem bothering more and more people that spent a lot of money for a surface pro 3...

Have MSFT BT Mobile Keyboard 6000, MSFT BT Number Pad, Streamer 14, Surface Pen, AND Arc Mouse Surface Edition connected to my SP3. Samsung Monitor connected via MSFT Display Adapter with USB connected to my MSFT docking station (my monitor does not have a USB port)

When I project to my monitor I flatten the Arc mouse and get a 1920 X 1080 resolution on my monitor. I do not disconnect BT, nor disconnect any other device.  Once the connection is established I bring the mouse up to operating position and I'm in business! If I don't flatten the mouse the connection is 1366 X 768.

That's my workaround it is a pain but at least it works until someone can put the pressure to bear on MSFT and Intel to fix what they broke.

But here's my question. Why does nothing BUT the monitor lose connection? Everything runs on BT. When I move my SP3 from the dock it loses connection to the monitor. The keyboard, the number pad, and the Arc mouse all stay connected (at least until I flatten the mouse to get proper resolution on the monitor). But here's another rub.....the mouse REMAINS CONNECTED. I don't have to reestablish connectivity with any of the other devices.

Intel does not think they broke anything. They did this deliberately. Why

Microsoft allowed them to do this and why they won't demand that they back out

this "feature" is something I don't understand.

All of your BlueTooth devices are connecting directly to your SP3 and NOT to the

dock, so they will keep their connection. You stated:

so it sounds like you have the USB from the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter

plugged into a USB port on the DOCK and the HDMI from the MWDA plugged into the

Samsung Monitor (?) - this being the case (and an unusual configuration) I think

that breaking the connection to the SP3 by undocking it turns off the power to

that dock USB port.

Can you tell us more about what the MWDA is plugged into?
