Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter with Surface Pro 3 Resolution Problem

My Surface Pro 3 is fully updated with the latest firmware and updates and the wireless display also has the latest updates.

When I have my bluetooth on and I connect to the wireless display adapter, my TV's max resolution that I can set is 1366 x 768 but when I turn my bluetooth off first and then connect to the wireless display adapter I can set my TV to 1920 x 1080.

It's kind of annoying to have to turn bluetooth off first before I connect to my tv. Is there something I can do to fix this issue?

This is happening to me as well. However, I only have the Arc Touch Mouse for Surface and the Surface Pen connected via bluetooth. If Bluetooth is on, I get the 1366x768 resolution. If Bluetooth is off, I get 1920x1080. If I turn off bluetooth, connect at the 1920x1080, and then enable bluetooth, it changes resolution back to 1366x768.

Thanks for the help Barb but I figured out why I was having the problem...

Whenever I have my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact phone connected to my Surface Pro 3 with bluetooth the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter would connect to my TV at 1366 x 768. When I un-pair my phone from my Surface Pro 3, everything works fine and my Surface connects to my TV at 1920 x 1080 resolution.

It's weird but I much rather un-pair my phone then have to turn Bluetooth on and off every time I want to use the wireless display adapter.

If I just connect to the adapter in mirror mode it sets the resolution at 1366 x 768. I'm only trying to change it because it's not the right resolution.

I usually use the adapter to extend my display so the surface and TV run at different resolutions.

Only when I turn bluetooth off before I connect it automatically sets the proper 1920 x 1080 resolution.

OK, here's what I don't understand - WHY are you trying to change the

resolution. The Miracast protocol should negotiate all of this. And note with

Miracast, you can only have one display resolution for both monitors.

The way it should work is that when you connect to the MWDA, the TV should

display at 1980 x 1020 and the Surface Pro 3 should also change to 1980 x 1020.

When you disconnect, the SP3 will go back to its native resolution.

Are you trying to say that when you do this automatically that the Sony will NOT

connect at 1980 x 1020?

Steps to connect with Miracast: Charms, Devices, Project - and then select your

MWDA. Don't do anything else. What happens?
