Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter with Surface Pro 3 Resolution Problem

My Surface Pro 3 is fully updated with the latest firmware and updates and the wireless display also has the latest updates.

When I have my bluetooth on and I connect to the wireless display adapter, my TV's max resolution that I can set is 1366 x 768 but when I turn my bluetooth off first and then connect to the wireless display adapter I can set my TV to 1920 x 1080.

It's kind of annoying to have to turn bluetooth off first before I connect to my tv. Is there something I can do to fix this issue?

    I don't have access to the router at the moment and don't really want to mess with it anyway, so here's something else that I tried.

    I disconnected from the Wi-Fi and then connected with the MWDA and it worked at 1080p resolution. Next I reconnected to the Wi-Fi router, and to my surprise, my MWDA stayed connected and at the 1080p resolution. It seemed a bit choppy, but at least It worked.

    Note that this was with the mouse flattened the whole time, but dis-connected but paired.

    Makes sense. Unfortunately, when I lock it at 5GHz (using the instructions you provided), the SP3 doesn't detect the MWDA any more. I had to revert to auto.

    Ugh. Ok, that will teach me to not try something myself first. To test the 2.4/5GHz scenario, you would have to reconfigure the Apple router for separate SSID's. At least for testing. You can switch back after testing.  it would be good to know whether or not you have this issue when you are explicitly connected at 5GHz.

    EDIT: it may be that the MWDA only operates at 2.4 GHz, and if you use 5GHz connecting to the router, you reduce the congestion on the 2.4 band. I'm looking for more info.

    Bottom line, it's interference on the 2.4 side that is causing issues.

    It is my understanding that the MWDA uses Miracast which uses Wi-Fi DIrect to establish a peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connection and thus doesn't go through a router. If this is the case, then why is the GHz of my router even a question? In any case, I'm using the latest Apple AirPort Extreme, which I assume is operating at 5GHz.

    So, yes it is direct. But, if you are connected to the router at 5GHz then the connection to the MWDA will be 5GHz. If you are connected to the router at 2.4GHz, then the Miracast connection is 2.4GHz.

    Apple by default uses the same SSID name for both bands, so unless you changed manually.
