Micorosoft Surface RT won't connect to microsoft account or updat

Hi there,

I have tried to sign into my Microsoft Account to connect the Surface RT, but every time it ends up with a message : "Sorry, we couldn't connect to Microsoft services right now. If this problem persists, search for "network problems" on the Start screen"

I have checked the clock, which is one of the culprits as per the forums, but i don't see any problem with it.

I have reset the surface to see if that would reset something but same result.

I have Run the WSReset.exe to same result.

I do not know what to do, without the Microsoft login, I can not do anything through the Microsoft Store.

Cheers,

Mohammad

Hi Mohammad,

We are aware that there are customers experiencing issues with Windows RT/8.1 devices connecting to their Microsoft accounts. Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

In the meantime, please continue to use your local Windows login account for the time being. You may try to reattach your Microsoft account as a connected account at a later time.

We appreciate your understanding. Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

Regards.

Mod Edit: Marking as answered to raise visibility.

(Update 10/11/17) A change was implemented on 10/10 that should resolve this issue.

If I click "View your update history", it says "Update for Windows RT 8.1 (KB3020370) Successfully installed on 09/21/2017"

That's over 2 years old and refers to a particular "servicing stack update"

This issue also occurs in Windows 8.1 and Windows 8-based operating systems. You can install the following servicing stack updates to resolve the issue:

Do you have  KB2919355?   Oh.  I guess you must.   It is listed as a prerequisite.   So, why is this one talking about W8.0?

I don't have KB2919355 in my update history... seems like this is a growing issue as people try to reset...

Been a couple of days and no updates have taken place. Hopefully they will find out the issue. At least I got a few apps singed in individually before the store decided my internet connection is too slow.

So it looks like the issue builds as different updates are applied, the store cut off after KB3063843 installed successfully twice one day apart....

I don't have KB2919355 in my update history...

Thanks for reporting this detail.  FWIW I wouldn't be surprised if your "Internet speed too slow" message is just a bogus symptom for not having KB2919355 (yet).  Unfortunately as the above articles show you need it to get fully updated.  That's why some users have been downloading a replacement for the recovery partition and thus avoiding the problem of updating from "factory refresh".  Presumably that solves the other problem I mentioned about KB3000850 not being available any more as a cumulative update but you would need KB2919355 to get it anyway.

Ok so I'll do a manual install and let you know, why wouldn't this upgrade on its own?

Could this have been in the ico image the MS store gave me.

I looked for the version number of the image, this is what I found. 9200.16551.armfre-win8_gdr.130306-1502
