Micorosoft Surface RT won't connect to microsoft account or updat

Hi there,

I have tried to sign into my Microsoft Account to connect the Surface RT, but every time it ends up with a message : "Sorry, we couldn't connect to Microsoft services right now. If this problem persists, search for "network problems" on the Start screen"

I have checked the clock, which is one of the culprits as per the forums, but i don't see any problem with it.

I have reset the surface to see if that would reset something but same result.

I have Run the WSReset.exe to same result.

I do not know what to do, without the Microsoft login, I can not do anything through the Microsoft Store.

Cheers,

Mohammad

Hi Mohammad,

We are aware that there are customers experiencing issues with Windows RT/8.1 devices connecting to their Microsoft accounts. Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

In the meantime, please continue to use your local Windows login account for the time being. You may try to reattach your Microsoft account as a connected account at a later time.

We appreciate your understanding. Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

Regards.

Mod Edit: Marking as answered to raise visibility.

(Update 10/11/17) A change was implemented on 10/10 that should resolve this issue.

Well good news, account login is working along with Onedrive.

Bad news the store still reports that connection is too slow. Also not sure update is working, it looked like it was stuck in the checking for updates loop as before. I'll post tomorrow if update stops on its own.

    Hi all,

It seems that Microsoft solved the issue. Now microsoft accounts are working again on surface!!

Yesterday I reset my Surface 2 RT.

When I tried to configure with my Microsoft account I got an error message.

I created a local account and I downloaded many apps separately without entering with my microsoft account.

This morning I entered in skydrive and i clicked on the shortcut in order to go settings and connect to my Microsoft account. I decided to give it a try and I tried to login.

With my surprise, after inserting user and Password I got the verification page, in which you need to write your second email in order to verify your account.

I did it and I wrote the verification code I received on my second email. Nothing, classical error message: cannot communicate with Microsoft....

I tried again but this time, after inserting user and password, in the verification screen I clicked on: cannot verify now and I succeeded. Windows logged it and then I did also the verification from the settings (you will get a message: you need to verify this account or something similar). I did it and now I'm using my surface as usual.

Finally this nightmare has been solved.

I hope this will work for you as well.

Thanks to the engineers that solved this issue

    Have a nice day

    Pier

A month of them doing nothing is enough.  Two more weeks and I am mailing it to the CEO of the company.  I'm done.  MS just announced yesterday it is euthanizing my 950 Windows Phone, and Groove music which I love.  This ongoing RT/8.1 problem to me signals something similar -- that they are just not bothering fixing the problem because they don't care.  I have owned 3 Surface Pros, one Zune, and four Windows Phones. I have been more than dedicated and loyal. MS, however, has not.  No more MS products.  I just can't trust this company to support anything for more than a brief period.  Thankfully I didn't buy the Band!
