I got a Surface Pro 3 less than a month ago. So far I have installed a few aftermarket programs (iTunes, Firefox, Chrome) and the 1yr subscription to Microsoft Office 365 that came with my computer. I also created a homegroup on my home wifi network.
Other than that, the computer is precisely the same as it was out of the box.
For the last few days, I am having some severe internet/network connectivity and operating issues. Google Chrome, which I usually use to browse, is extremely slow to open. When that happened, I tried to use both Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Both of those
programs opened, but were very slow to open pages, and often timed out.
I tried to see if the homegroup was the issue, but under to settings/network & internet/homegroup it stated i was not in a homegroup. Running the homegroup troubleshooter and network troubleshooter did not fix the issue. When I tried to click on "network
and sharing center" window opened blank, and it took minutes to load. I opened another computer, right next to the SP3 and was able to access the internet and the homegroup without issue, so I know it is not a network issue.
Eventually, when the internet options window I opened froze and would not respond, I restarted the computer and was able to access the internet. Using the machine later, the same problem happened again. Restart, and it fixed it again.
Is this a known issue, and are there any fixes available? I do not want to own a machine that requires random restarts to function properly.
Thanks
