Surface 2 Speaker/Sound Problems

Have any of you guys experienced the pixelated screen yet?? I know everyone is having these sound issues but a ton of people are also getting pixel screens and I was just wondering if any of you got that as well... I love the surface 2 but man does thing have a ton of problems... not to mention the loose volume rocker that rattles as well

The pixelated screen issue is a known one (Surface 2 will randomly freeze and lock up whilst showing a pixelated screen) and the advice is to exchange your surface 2.

 

This is something I experienced, exchanged and haven't had since. A fix is being worked on for this as well and all investigations I've seen would lead towards a driver issue as those experiencing it do appear to have a lot of nVidia display adaptor warnings/errors.

 

So my advice would be to take advantage of the exchange being offered, however if you'd rather not exchange, then it would be quite likely a future update will resolve the issue.

Thanks for the response Matt, I can see you are only trying to help. Unfortunately I have to dis agree with you about taking advantage of exchanging the surface 2 for a new one. As I commented earlier, I have gone through 3 surface tablets already so I'm done exchanging them. My girlfriends surface tablet also worked perfectly for 15 days before getting the pixel screen. Another guy exchanged his and it worked fine for 10 days and then the replacement got the pixel screen again too. Exchanging the surface does absolutely nothing in solving the problem and I'm sick of Microsoft suggesting that we simply exchange our tablets when something is wrong. There is some REAL problems that ALL surface 2 tablets have and until Microsoft at least admits this, then I'm gonna keep complaining as much as I can with the rest of the people on this thread because like others have said, we are the loyal fans of surface tablets and we deserve better. Again this is all directed at Microsoft and not you Matt, I know your just trying to help and I appreciate your input very much!

I have watched this thread closely over the last few days. I've had my Surface 2 for about two weeks. I completely agree with the feelings expressed throughout this thread. The sound is definitely sub par. My iPad 2 has better sound quality at 50%! I absolutely love the Surface 2 but this issue has to be resolved! I think we all deserve at the very least an acknowledgment that our concerns are being heard. The moderators response lacked any real understanding of the problems and it seems as if he had not read the thread before replying.

Step up Microsoft. If its a software issue I'm quite sure many of us would happily wait for the appropriate software solution. A simple acknowledgement will no doubt offer piece of mind.

Really?  So the problem here is that we're jut not using it right?  Just need to turn the sound down a tad? 

You do realize you are talking to your early adopters here.  Your most enthusiastic, loyal fans?  Your most hard core MS junkies?  We are the ones at Best Buy who help out customers who don't know the difference between RT and PRO because neither do the sales people! We are your advocates, your evangelists! 

We are your first followers.  You need to be treating us as equals and not as little old ladies on an AOL help chat.  In fact, you ought to be CATERING to us because without us, there's NO one to start the movement toward a Windows based tablet. 

Did you read how many of the comments from folks here are comparing multiple devices talking about this sound issues because many of us actually OWN multiple Surfaces and can actually make such a comparison!  (BTW - you can add Surface Pro as having WAY more bass than the S2, and doesn't distort, crackle or pop at 80 or 100.  Do you own multiple Surfaces Steven?  Have you taken the time to compare them?)

Regarding the audio distortion, Surface 2 was designed to deliver a great quality audio experience.  For best results, use the Surface 2 speakers at a volume of 80 or less -- playing at higher volumes can result in distortion depending upon the audio content type. If you want louder sound, we recommend using external speakers or headphones.   Leaving audio enhancements “on” (default) optimizes your audio experience across all content types.

At 80, There Is no audible Sound!
