I restart after I uninstall the device and the codec with deletion. I would try doing that to the 8/24(my min is 8/14?) do the restart, then install the 8/24 device driver then codec, then no restart, try the 10/13 device then codec... that's what I do...
When you uninstall doe it not install automatically on restart? Mine requires the manual install.
I did everything in the way you said and I could not get it pass the 8/24. Every time I uninstall that one I can't install anything else.
It could be because I uninstalled all the Audio codecs at one point... I didn't notice too much difference between the 8/14 and 10/23 drivers in terms of sound so it's probably not that big of a deal if you have either of those. Now if you were stuck with the 10/27 drivers that would be a huge problem because that's where enhanced audio broke.
Microsoft may have put out the 10/27 to get everyone to try and go back to the 8/14 drivers since people seem to be reset/refreshing and then not able to get back to 10/23... and maybe once you reset or refresh the 10/23 drivers are no longer available... just a thought
