Surface 2 Speaker/Sound Problems

I just purchased two new Surface 2's and I am noticing a significant reduction in volume from the speakers compared to my old Surface RT.  The speakers also lack any kind of bass.  They are very "tinny" and shallow sounding.  When using headphones, there is plenty of bass sound and the volume level is not an issue.

I am also experienceing a significant amount of sound crackling (from the speakers and attached headphones) when streaming video from Amazon Instant Video using both the desktop and metro versions of IE.  I do not experience this crackling problem with other sound sources like Xbox music, gaming, or other website streaming video (i.e. YouTube).

Since I was experiencing this on two different Surface 2's, it seems unlikely that this is a hardware issue.  This is most likely a software/driver issue.  Is there anything that I can do to resolve this problem, other than wait for a possible software or firmware update?

    Unfortunately I to have the crackling sound issue. Must be a software issue. Please Microsoft, respond to this and issue a fix. Otherwise I love this tablet 😉

    There is a new driver available. Open device manager, locate the NVidia sound driver, right click and select update driver online.

    To remedy the crackling problem just go into the sound settings and turn off "Enable audio Enhancements"

    You can do this by typing "sound" into the search bar and clicking the Speaker Icon, this should take you to the desktop view. Double click on the NVidia Speakers and go to Properties. Then at the bottom uncheck it.

    Apply it.

    And boom. No more crackling. So it's a software issue that hopefully Microsoft will fix.

    Also be sure to close everything before you do this otherwise you'll have to restart for the changes to take effect.

    I mentioned this on the first page.

    Also a restart is not needed..you just need to force close the apps...but if you have a lot open a restart maybe quicker.

    Also disabling the audio enhancement makes some videos very very quite and music volume lower too

    Yeah I just started to realize that. Everything's quiet as heck. But obviously if unchecking something changes the audio states then it's gotta be software. Now we just have to hope Microsoft sees this.
