Surface Pro 3 High CPU load when idle, high system cpu load

Has anyone else noticed that coming out of sleep or herniate results in unwarranted high cpu load from system interrupts?

I have all the latest firmware and updates loaded. But using sleep even sometimes a cold boot I get this issue.

How can I fix this please. Its killing my battery life.

Oh!! I just checked it again as I wanted to make a screenshot and now it's working! I don't know what changed. The only thing I did was that I originally enabled Hyper-V but when it started interfering with my WiFi connectivity I disabled it again, so maybe that's what was necessary.. I used to have constant high "System Interrupts" process running, but disabling one by one I found out that an Adobe startup process was causing it, so I disabled it and it seems to have fixed the issue. Either way, thanks for your responses!

Dear Clare,

No, this is not what I was asking. Please refer to the original question.

Perhaps you may have something running in the background.

This sounded like the craziest idea in the thread, so naturally it's the one I tried first.

Scientific testing and all - with Task Manager open, sorted by CPU, with the total CPU score pegging at just under 25%, mostly split between System and System Interrupts (TM shows System is using ~13%, System Interrupts ~9%, but Resource Monitor says the split is the other way around, for what that's worth).

As soon as I open the Recording Devices dialog, the CPU starts coming down, until the total CPU use is less than 5%, mostly in Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation - but that's for another day. Obviously, this is because it's now listening to the microphone, because when I close the dialog, up goes the CPU usage again.

I flip back and forth between listening and not listening, and it's clear that you are totally correct, that turning Listen on reduces CPU usage, and turning it off again increases CPU usage.

I hope this is useful to a few other people as well.

Now, me, I do use my microphone to Skype with my parents once a week, so it'll be a pain to keep switching settings, but it's worth it for the cooler-running, longer-battery SP3.
