Surface Pro 3 High CPU load when idle, high system cpu load

Has anyone else noticed that coming out of sleep or herniate results in unwarranted high cpu load from system interrupts?

I have all the latest firmware and updates loaded. But using sleep even sometimes a cold boot I get this issue.

How can I fix this please. Its killing my battery life.

Oh!! I just checked it again as I wanted to make a screenshot and now it's working! I don't know what changed. The only thing I did was that I originally enabled Hyper-V but when it started interfering with my WiFi connectivity I disabled it again, so maybe that's what was necessary.. I used to have constant high "System Interrupts" process running, but disabling one by one I found out that an Adobe startup process was causing it, so I disabled it and it seems to have fixed the issue. Either way, thanks for your responses!

Dear Clare,

No, this is not what I was asking. Please refer to the original question.

Perhaps you may have something running in the background.

    Hi,

Having spent the past two hours having a slow conversation via twitter with Surface Support I figured I share my issue.

I've got an i7 SP3 256G fully patched up running no additional software.  Its in the same shape it was shipped in as I've not really adopted it full time due to the following issue.

After booting up the system regularly shows a consistent CPU utilization of around 30%.  The 30 % percent is used by system and system interrupts.  After a few minutes the machine runs hot, the fans come on and the system feels sluggish.  Having read up on the issue it seems to have been around since the introduction of the SP2.  The issue only occurs when the machine is in its dock.

Lots of people seem to attribute this to SD cards, usb peripherals etc, I've never used SD cards and it does it with no additional peripherals attached other than the cover / keyboard.  It does seem to be related to audio drivers as it can be stopped by playing audio or disabling the realtek audio device.  Normally it goes away after a reboot however today after plugging in external monitors even a reboot wouldn't shift it.

I appreciate that there are a lot of different external factors that are probably causing this issue for different people hence the variety of community suggestions but they all seem to have one thing in common which is that everyone develops a work around.

Has anyone had support from MS for the same issue?

    Thanks

    Alex

I am using a Pro 3 128G with i5, and have been having this problem just recently, probably for 3 weeks. Before that, the battery had been reasonably satisfied. But suddenly, starting from that day, the battery run out so fast during sleeping mode. It definitely drains overnight. So frustrating. I wouldn't have bought it if it turns out like this. Now, I have to turn the power off instead of putting it to sleep. If Microsoft doesn't solve this problem, it will surely lose its market.
