Surface Pro 3 High CPU load when idle, high system cpu load

Has anyone else noticed that coming out of sleep or herniate results in unwarranted high cpu load from system interrupts?

I have all the latest firmware and updates loaded. But using sleep even sometimes a cold boot I get this issue.

How can I fix this please. Its killing my battery life.

In order to better assist you, I will need to gather a few more details:

Have you made any changes to the power settings? And if so, what exact changes have you made?
Do you have any startup or background apps running?
Do you have a micro SD card inserted or any accessories and Bluetooth devices connected? If so, please disconnect or remove any external accessories and test it again.
Have you restarted the Surface and then set it to sleep after the restart? If not, please do so as well.
Have you tried resetting the power settings back to the default settings? If you haven't, here is how:

From Desktop, swipe in from the right edge of the screen and open the Charms menu
Select Settings
Select Control Panel
Select Power options
Select Change plan settings
Select Restore default settings for this plan
Select Yes
Restart your Surface

Oh!! I just checked it again as I wanted to make a screenshot and now it's working! I don't know what changed. The only thing I did was that I originally enabled Hyper-V but when it started interfering with my WiFi connectivity I disabled it again, so maybe that's what was necessary.. I used to have constant high "System Interrupts" process running, but disabling one by one I found out that an Adobe startup process was causing it, so I disabled it and it seems to have fixed the issue. Either way, thanks for your responses!

I have the same exact problem as OP.

This is on i5 Surface Pro 3 with 256G drive.

First time I noticed it was after cold boot, not after waking up from sleep. It had USB 3 flash drive connected at the time.

Ejecting and removing flash drive fixed the problem immediately but this is obviously not an acceptable solution.

All OS updates are installed. I have no Micro SD card in the tablet.

Has Microsoft ever officially acknowledged this problem for Surface Pro 3? It has been an issue for Surface Pro 2 for over 6 months as just I found out this morning, reported by many people on this forum and others. At some point after that it seems that some update was issued that fixed it but I am not completely clear if it did because I found nothing official from Microsoft.

The fact that the same issue is still present in SP 3 boggles my mind but fortunately for me I have a very simple solution for this - if real fix is not released within 2 weeks I will return my tablet as I am still within my return window.

Looking a little closer, at the processes taking up the CPU, I see that essentially "System" and "System Interrupts" are constantly taking up an average of 20% of the processor (swings from 10-30%). I feel like I've read about these processes being a problem on the SP3. What are people doing? More importantly, what is MS doing about this? Could it be doing this while it's supposed to be asleep?

I'll now add that I tried shutting down and then restarting, but it went right back to the 20% usage by the same two processes. I then went into airplane mode and the processes WENT AWAY!! I switched Airplane mode off and it stayed at 0-1% idle. Ugh WiFi... I guess MS is about to send out another patch?
