Hi,

I have a MS Surface Pro 9 and after waking up from sleep the screen is always sluggish (i.e. the mouse moves aren't fluid). However, as soon as I plug the power supply the lag goes away and is away even when I unplug it.

I've done a diagnostics but couldn't find anything.

Any ideas what could be the root of this problem? I don't have anything ressources intensive that is running.

Thanks,

ioan

Thank you for reporting the issue. A fix is now available through Windows Update. For more information about updates for your Surface device, please see Surface Pro 9 update history.

Downloading the Intel Graphics Command Center app from the Microsoft Store and turning off the Panel Self Refresh in the seems to have solved the problem. This setting can be found by clicking on the System icon and then the Power tab.

Just adding on that my Surface Pro 9 (12th Gen Intel i7, wi-fi only) also began having this problem after the update a few weeks ago.

For me, restarting the device fixes it until it goes to sleep again. The previously mentioned key combo (ctrl + shift + windows key + B) also fixes it. Like the OP, there's nothing resource-intensive running on my device. I've checked the Task Manager and I don't see any high usage on anything when this is occurring. From my perspective it seems to just be a display issue.

My device didn't have the Intel Graphics Command Center installed, so I haven't tried that suggestion yet. I will next time it happens, but it does still seem that there was something wrong with the update that should probably be addressed.

It's in Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display. If your device supports it, there should be a dropdown menu allowing you to choose the refresh rate. My available options were 60 Hz, 120 Hz, or Dynamic.
