Surface Book 3 Wifi Disconnecting Randomly

I've had my SB3 since the day after they became available.  I have had random wifi disconnects throughout the day, usually only 1 or 2 but they are happening daily.

I immediately check my iPad or phone that is nearby and connected to the same wifi network and have no issues accessing the internet from those devices during that time.  The only way for me to re-establish my wifi connection on my SB3 is to turn off the wifi and turn it back on.  Everything reconnects fine each time.

Yesterday, it did this as I was preparing to give a presentation to over 1,000 people -- virtually!  Are others experiencing this? Is this is a known issue already?  I just swapped over from a MacBook Pro after 10+ years in that environment and didn't have issues like this so I hope this is something easily rectified and soon or I'll be swapping back.

Thank you!

    Unfortunately, I have not and the issue still persists. I've had my Mac up connected to the same network and as soon as my Surface disconnects, I check my Mac and it still works fine and so does my iPad & iPhone on the same network.

    I've even moved my SB over to a cellular hotspot for a day and still get the random disconnect so it has zero to do with my network and it's definitely something with the SB.

    I'm also experiencing this issue. Like the OP, I got my surface book 3 the day after release and have had the issue since day 1. I believe it may have something to do with 5GHz networks

    What Wi-Fi router brand and model are you connected to on a 5Ghz channel when this occurs?  Do you always get disconnected from Wi-Fi, or does Windows still report you are Connected to Wi-Fi but you can't communicate with anything (webpage, ping, etc)?

    Hi @Tod

    To answer all of your questions;

    • Wifi Brand and Model for me: Hitron CGNM-2250
    • I have tried connecting on both the 2.4G or 5G channel same continuous disconnection.
    • It's a clear disconnect from Wi-Fi and windows report disconnected.

    To share my thoughts on this;

    The WiFi router can not be the problem, and here's why I believe so. Let's assume the fault is from the WiFi router, so long as it was able to work well enough with my previous computer and my current devices(laptops and smartphones), it should also be able to work with my surface book 3.

    So I will say it's either the WiFi hardware or the driver that will be the cause. I am almost tempted to say the people who may not have observed this problem are people who use the docking station (which simply means they may be using wired connection and not wireless.

    I am at the point of returning this laptop back to Microsoft, as I can't be in conference meeting on the go and my WiFi keeps disconnecting. Using a docking station with wired Ethernet connection changes it from a Laptop to a Desktop.
