Hello,
My surface pro 4 pen needs to be re-paired via bluetooth after the computer has been sleeping/hibernating in order for the eraser button to function when clicked. It still shows up as a connected device in the bluetooth settings, and still writes properly even when the eraser button does not work. After removing the pen from the list of connected devices and re-pairing, everything seems to work properly but this is obviously inconvenient. Thanks for any help you can offer!

2017-01-02T08:47:24+00:00 I am also experiencing this issue. The only way I have been able to effect a fix is to switch to a full shutdown instead of hibernating. This issue was introduced with a recent Microsoft update.
For those experiencing this issue it is easier to set your surface to shutdown rather than disabling/enabling the pen via the device manager, taking the battery out or repairing. All of these work but it's a real pain to do this every time the surface is resumed from hibernation.
The problem is easily reproducible by setting the surface to hibernate. Every time the surface is restarted the pen button will no longer function.

2017-01-02T17:19:10+00:00 I also have the same issue. It's only when it goes to Hibernate, which is after 2 hours of sleep (default setting). I can also trigger the issue by manually setting the device to Hibernate. It works fine if I only put the device to normal Sleep. Only way to get it working again is to restart the device.

We would also like to confirm that everything has been updated: Windows and firmware.
If the same thing happened even after all the updates installed, let's us know if re-installation of Windows makes any difference.
Everything is up to date. Since I had both my surface device and surface pen replaced for this issue, and the issue still persisted, I think it's unlikely that a re-installation of windows would fix the issue.
