Surface Pro 4 Pen needs to be re-bluetooth paired after waking up/turning on surface

Hello,

My surface pro 4 pen needs to be re-paired via bluetooth after the computer has been sleeping/hibernating in order for the eraser button to function when clicked. It still shows up as a connected device in the bluetooth settings, and still writes properly even when the eraser button does not work. After removing the pen from the list of connected devices and re-pairing, everything seems to work properly but this is obviously inconvenient. Thanks for any help you can offer!

replaced my lost pen with new one every time it wakes up I have to repair for the eraser button to work. literally no hope after reading this...

I have the same problem as several others in this thread: Pen eraser switch not working after sleep or hibernation. Bluetooth settings shows pen as active when it's not working. Re-parring is needed to get pen switch working again. A reboot will also make it work. The troubleshooting procedures linked above does not help. (Of course it will make the pen switch active but only until next sleep/hibernation).

As it only fails in this specific situation tells me that it must be a driver or sw problem. My surface pro 4 is updatde with the latest fixes and drivers.

Hi.

I have a Surface pro 3 and the original pen never had problems. I bought a surface pro 4 pen and now I DO have the problem reported here.

Just to say that this isn't a problem only with SP4 and new Pen. I believe that the problem is related with the pen (hardware or software).

I have had the same problem now for at least a month. Every time I boot my Surface Pro 4, from sleep or from complete power off, the Marvell Avastar Bluetooth is disabled. I have reloaded from scratch twice and it does not help. From the thousands of posts, all over the world, it is obvious that this is inherent to something changed in an update, but it should not be our job to troubleshoot the issue. Enough people are experiencing the issue, that Microsoft should own up to the problem and provide a fix, since it happens on a 3 or 4. The length of time this has been reported is inexcusable for someone like Microsoft to not have provided a fix for it. I also have an HP Elite X2 and never have an issue with the Bluetooth or pen. I work for a major healthcare equipment manufacturer and we would not dream of letting our customers experience an issue this long, it shows lack of direction, commitment and customer support care.

Can someone at Microsoft champion an effort to fix this widespread issue?
