Hello,
My surface pro 4 pen needs to be re-paired via bluetooth after the computer has been sleeping/hibernating in order for the eraser button to function when clicked. It still shows up as a connected device in the bluetooth settings, and still writes properly even when the eraser button does not work. After removing the pen from the list of connected devices and re-pairing, everything seems to work properly but this is obviously inconvenient. Thanks for any help you can offer!

I have this problem too. I installed the Windows 10 Creators Update and it does not work.
But after installing the Creators Update I have uninstalled the Radio Card from Device Manager (right click on Radio Card > Uninstall) and rebooted Surface (Pro 4).
In the boot fase he tells me he's updating.
After the "update" the Pen works.

To address your concern, we suggest that you reinstall your Windows 10. Follow the steps on this link on how to clean install Windows 10.
Note: Make sure to back up all important files and program installers from your computer using an external drive.

I have the same problem as several others in this thread: Pen eraser switch not working after sleep or hibernation. Bluetooth settings shows pen as active when it's not working. Re-parring is needed to get pen switch working again. A reboot will also make it work. The troubleshooting procedures linked above does not help. (Of course it will make the pen switch active but only until next sleep/hibernation).
As it only fails in this specific situation tells me that it must be a driver or sw problem. My surface pro 4 is updatde with the latest fixes and drivers.
The most recent firmware update did not solve my issue. How disappointing... At this point I can only assume that Microsoft isn't taking any of our feedback seriously since all communication with the Microsoft representation on this post has ceased and we haven't been provided an update on the issue despite being told that we would. I originally asked this question nearly 3 months ago and there has been essentially zero progress since then. Very disappointed in Microsoft for not listening to customer feedback when the core functionality of their flagship device is broken for so many people.
