How do I get my music (like Pandora) to keep playing after the Surface shuts the screen off while on battery?

I want to listen to music on my Surface but not have to have the screen on (to save battery life).  Is the only way to keep the music app running to keep the Surface awake?  Or if I have Pandora going in the background and I flip to another app it stops the sound.  How do I keep it going?

Greetings all,

Internet Explorer is not able to stream in Connected Standby. There are apps that can stream while the Surface is in Connected Standby (Xbox Music).

    What app are you using to play the music? Xbox Music should continue playing music after the screen turns off.

    That may work for music already on your system but doesn't help for the likes of us Spotify or Pandora users. Is there a solution that allows the screen to shut off and continue to stream Spotify music?

    Seems like its been a year almost exactly...any progress?

    Well, were are the Spotify Suggestion forum and Pandora suggestion forum.

    Rally the troops and have enough people complain and maybe they'll build a windows RT app sooner.

    Thoughts?  We are more powerful as a group instead of individuals.

    Hi, I use Windows RT and for musik i use Xbox and the music stops when the screen gose dark, the same when lissening radio trhoug IE....and as I understand there is no other way then just to ceep display on? What a bad bad mistake....

    @Kate, we're NOT asking to switch from Pandora. We want to keep using Pandora - but have it continue playing while we're doing something else. Moving to XBox Music is not the question and not an option.

    And launching Pandora on the Desktop IE works. You can come back to the tiles, and the music continues to play.
