Is anyone having a hard time with pinch to zoom on the touchpad?

It's not very responsive, and most of the time, it moves the cursor instead of zoom.

It's very consistent with quick pinching, but when you pinch slowly to just get the view a little bigger or smaller, it becomes a pain for me.

Microsoft fixed the initial two-finger scrolling responsiveness. (It now works every time without fail.) Now, I really hope they fix pinch-to-zoom on the touchpad. I hate having to reach up to the screen to get accurate zooming.

Same problem here. The zoom function on both, touchpad and screen is pretty much useless. I'm browsing with firefox and zoom via touchpad is not working in a way you could actually use it. It only somehow works when you move your fingers very quickly. As a result, it is impossible to fine-zoom. I've tried it with corel draw on the tablet part only as well. Same issue. Zooming in only works if you move your fingers very quickly, hence, totally useless.

Just another issue on the long list now.

*tap to click not working with delay setting on

*camera frequently stops working after wake up

*zoom gestures with two fingers not working

*bluetooth access point frequently impossible to connect, only after restart reconnect possible

This whole thing is extremely buggy and unreliable considering it is supposedly a premium device. At least, I'm so thankful that the frequent system crashes are much better now. This happened several times a week after sleep/hibernate/wake up until recently. The updates made it much better. So I hope they can fix all the aforementioned issues some day. Needless to say, this is kind of disappointing.

Its happening to me too. I'm trying out the Surface Book. I'm a long time Mac user. Macs never have an issue with this. I've been extra sensitive to issues with the track pad and scrolling in general. Issues I've found so far:

Pinch and zoom on touchpad works very inconsistently if at all. I noticed it particularly with the Maps app where pinching and zooming is a very common action. I'm theorizing its having trouble distinguishing between a two finger scroll and pinch/zoom action. Is it possible to disable two finger scrolling in maps?
I had an issue with Slack where two finger scrolling would happen at all unless the action was very large, and then it would scroll in groups of lines. Next day I tried to reproduce the problem and it seems to be working fine both with the touchpad and touching the screen. I haven't narrowed down the cause or scenario.
I've noticed that two finger scrolling in Chrome doesn't work. There's a lag. In Edge it seems to work fine and is very responsive.

I tried out other leading laptops and I've was surprised at how bad tracking is on other laptops. In particular, using the Microsoft Solitaire game, on the Dell XPS13, HP Spectre, moving a card by touching the screen, the card lags far away, frame rates are bad, not a good experience. On the SUrface Book it looks and acts great, tracking very closely. Surprised there's such a discrepancy between different devices running Windows 10.

I have the exact same issue. There is no way to finesse the gesture. Even if I do a rapid and large gesture (which is pretty much the only way to be able to instigate the motion), I will just as likely have the pointer slung off somewhere. It is a very common gesture, and it's a bummer it's not working smoothly.
