Surface Dock 2 Display Problem

Dear Microsoft-Team,

Dear Community,

I recently got the brand-new Surface Dock 2 for my home office. I try connecting it with my Surface Pro 7 and a Samsung C34J791 (LC34J791WTUXEN) monitor with the supplies USB-C cable from Samsung which came with the monitor.

Windows is recognising the monitor fine, it shows up in the screen settings.

But the display is not showing any images, it just keeps switching through the inputs to find a proper signal and after some time the monitor goes into sleep mode as it could not find a signal.

If I now connect the display to the Surface Pro 7 directly with the same cable it works just fine and I can see the desktop on the Samsung monitor.

What do you suggest?

Thanks a lot in advance for your kind assistance and have a great weekend!

Best regards,

Julian

Similar issue here appears to be solved.

Surface Pro 7, Surface Dock 2, USB-C to HDMI on 4k TV.

Extended monitors works perfectly when I use the USB-C port on the Surface to connect to the TV, but not through the display port on the dock,

I had Windows check for updates and installed until it displayed "Up to date"

Then installed the latest Dock 2 firmware for Surface Pro 7 here:

    ---- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=101317

Unplugged everything, restarted, plugged dock charger and monitor back in and it looks like it worked.

    Hope this helps

Same problem here. Surface Pro 6/Samsung C34J79/Dock 2/USB-C to USB-C. Surface identifies the external display but no image on screen

Same issue here, New MS surface Pro 7, MS Pro Dock2, Dell U4919DW.

When I restart the computer I always need to reboot the display.

I always have to start computer then connect the Dock2 to get display to work.

Also sometimes screen gets blurry and need to reboot to solve.

Have lots off issues with our customer and dual displays not always starting on the dock.

I see lots of threads with people having problems but no real solution.

Our company has desided not to use Dock2 opting for Dell 6000 universal.

This is all hi-end stuff that needs to work.

I experienced the same with a new Surface Dock 2, Surface Laptop 3 and an older Dell U3014 connected with a USB C to DisplayPort cable. Spent a couple hours trying different cables only to discover if I reversed the connector to the Laptop that it worked when that cable pointed towards the front of the laptop but not pointed to the back. I tested that case several times to make sure it wasn't a cable seating issue. Then after adding "Surface - Extension 5.5.0.0" from under Windows Update it now works plugged in either way.
