Surface Dock 2 Display Problem

Dear Microsoft-Team,

Dear Community,

I recently got the brand-new Surface Dock 2 for my home office. I try connecting it with my Surface Pro 7 and a Samsung C34J791 (LC34J791WTUXEN) monitor with the supplies USB-C cable from Samsung which came with the monitor.

Windows is recognising the monitor fine, it shows up in the screen settings.

But the display is not showing any images, it just keeps switching through the inputs to find a proper signal and after some time the monitor goes into sleep mode as it could not find a signal.

If I now connect the display to the Surface Pro 7 directly with the same cable it works just fine and I can see the desktop on the Samsung monitor.

What do you suggest?

    Hi all, 

    Very dissapointing to see this thread and that it is still an ongoing issue for a year. 

    Same issue, except my dock2 also says that there may not be enough power also... 

    Has anyone found a solution to this which doesn’t involve more cost to the customer?

    The only thing i have found that resolved my issue was using a USB-C cable from my monitor (Dell 49" curved model) directly to the USB-C port on the dock.  I purchased all different types of USB-C adapters (Microsoft ones, Insignia ones and Belkin) which all did not work.  I even tried specific HDMI cables of all type, quality and version (1.3 & 1.4).  Nothing resolved my issue until i went to straight USB-C cables.  I know everyone does not have this options as not all monitors come with a USB-C connection.  Just wanted to share my update.

    I tried installing the latest version of the Intel drivers in my Surface Laptop 3, but the driver installation failed (I used the official Intel installer).

    I also tried using a USB-C to Display Port adapter + a Display Port driver and it didn't work either...

    Microsoft, **** is this, you didn't test your own device before launching it to the market or what??

    GIVE US A SOLUTION!!!!

    I have tried installing the latest Intel Driver (27.20.100.9126).  This still doesn't work for me.  I have a Surface Pro 7 and an LG monitor.   I can connect the USB-C to HDMI on the monitor directly but when I try to do this via the Surface Dock 2, the monitor is not recognized and I get a message "USB Device Might Need More Power".

    I think I'm just going to return the Microsoft Dock 2.  

    This is too bad.

    Hello Angel,

    I have already described the required steps exactly. There is nothing more to write about.

    I haven't had any problems with since the driver change, the Surface has been working correctly since then.
