Surface Dock 2 Display Problem

I can CONFIRM that buying the Microsoft Surface USB-C to HDMI Adapter (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/surface-usb-c-to-hdmi-adapter/94chb2m80s54?SilentAuth=1&activetab=pivot%3aoverviewtab&atc=true&wa=wsignin1.0) fixed the issue for the HP 23es that would not properly connect to the Surface Dock 2 using a Uni USB-C to HDMI cable (https://uniaccessories.io/products/usb-c-to-hdmi-cable-3ft-6ft-10ft) which is the exact same cable that my 27 inch Sceptre Curved monitor is using with the same dock and no issues. 

I can use the same cable to plug the HP 23es directly into my Surface Book 3 and it will connect perfectly. However the Surface Dock 2 seems to have an issue with "older" monitors (the HP 23es came out in 2016) so it only seems to want the adapter. 

As much as I love Surface products I am pretty disappointed right now. I should not have to buy a $50 adapter to make my $200 dock work when there are already cables that serve the same purpose as this adapter.

I have a customer that has 2 x Dell 49" curved monitors.  If I connect the monitor with a surface dock and a mini-display port to HDMI adapter it will work through the dock.  Whenever the client disconnects from the dock and then reconnects they have to turn the monitor power off and then back on.  I installed a surface dock 2 with the Microsoft USB-C to HDMI adapter and the monitor will not display anything.  The computer sees a monitor but says it has no profile and is not active.  I have ran through the registry entry to clear the monitor cache also.  In both scenarios if i plug the monitor directly into the surface pro x the connection works as expected.  Doing all of this i thought maybe it had something to do with the Surface Pro X being the ARM processor but it is not.  I tried with a brand new Surface Pro 7 with the same docking stations and connects and it acts exactly the same.  I have ran the surface dock updater and the surface dock 2 updates accordingly and no change.  I have even ordered another Dell 49 curved monitor thinking it was a monitor issue but it is not.  

If i can get some sort of guidance or fix i would appreciate it.  Right now my client just plugs the dock in for power and wireless keyboard and mouse and then plugs the monitor in directly.

Indeed, I think also that Microsoft should provide an adapter with his dock.

Finally, I checked several posts and I ordered a DP / USB-C rope to connect my screen to dock2 (my screen support display port). Normaly with right specs (DP 1.4, Vesa, HDR, ..) it should work well and the price is a little cheaper than Microsoft adapter. 

I hope ! It's not plug & play **** & pray !! :D

I find difficult that microsoft decide to refund or provide the adapter for free, given the fact that until now the problem has been shamefully ignored. I spent almost 300 euros for dock 2 with the intention of connecting two monitors and now I should spend another 90 !!!

Everything is fine with it, but Microsoft should reimburse us or providing it for free if we buy the Surface Dock 2 IMHO!!!
