Surface Dock 2 Display Problem

Dear Microsoft-Team,

Dear Community,

I recently got the brand-new Surface Dock 2 for my home office. I try connecting it with my Surface Pro 7 and a Samsung C34J791 (LC34J791WTUXEN) monitor with the supplies USB-C cable from Samsung which came with the monitor.

Windows is recognising the monitor fine, it shows up in the screen settings.

But the display is not showing any images, it just keeps switching through the inputs to find a proper signal and after some time the monitor goes into sleep mode as it could not find a signal.

If I now connect the display to the Surface Pro 7 directly with the same cable it works just fine and I can see the desktop on the Samsung monitor.

What do you suggest?

Thanks a lot in advance for your kind assistance and have a great weekend!

Best regards,

Julian

Similar issue here appears to be solved.

Surface Pro 7, Surface Dock 2, USB-C to HDMI on 4k TV.

Extended monitors works perfectly when I use the USB-C port on the Surface to connect to the TV, but not through the display port on the dock,

I had Windows check for updates and installed until it displayed "Up to date"

Then installed the latest Dock 2 firmware for Surface Pro 7 here:

    ---- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=101317

Unplugged everything, restarted, plugged dock charger and monitor back in and it looks like it worked.

    Hope this helps

I have the same issue. Clearly it is a widespread fault.

Surface Pro 7, Surface Dock 2, USB C to HDMI

Initially it works then if the surface goes to sleep and you log back in it will not send signal to the external monitor. You can see that the desktop is still extended (i.e. all the apps and start bar are being sent to the monitor that is black), but you can't get to it.

I have tried the SEMM drivers - nothing

Unplugging cable and replugging - nothing

Remove power to the dock and plug back in - all comes back to life.

Same cable directly from Surface to Monitor - works most of the time.

MS need to provide a proper solution here. These docks are expensive. This is unacceptable level of problems.

I feel the same i am having constant issues with my Surfacebook 3 and this dock will not power my two screens it's advertised as duel 4k display I've done everything sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't i can't even return the thing now as i have had it for 30 days.

Microsoft need to do something as I've paid a lot for this device for it not to work!

Microsoft fix this issue.  The surface dock 2, does not work with USB C to HDMI. I have the issue. All the others in this thread have this issue.

    Hi everyone,

Same problem here. Brand new Surface Book 3, full options, with Surface Dock 2. What a shame... Really hoping and expecting to get a viable solution soon. I'm aware this post won't help technically but it may help by putting pressure on Microsoft.

All the best to all of you,

    Simon
