Surface Dock 2 Display Problem

Dear Microsoft-Team,

Dear Community,

I recently got the brand-new Surface Dock 2 for my home office. I try connecting it with my Surface Pro 7 and a Samsung C34J791 (LC34J791WTUXEN) monitor with the supplies USB-C cable from Samsung which came with the monitor.

Windows is recognising the monitor fine, it shows up in the screen settings.

But the display is not showing any images, it just keeps switching through the inputs to find a proper signal and after some time the monitor goes into sleep mode as it could not find a signal.

If I now connect the display to the Surface Pro 7 directly with the same cable it works just fine and I can see the desktop on the Samsung monitor.

What do you suggest?

    I can confirm this issue is still happening. We just ordered dozens of Surface Go 2 tablets and Surface Dock 2's to go with them. All of them exhibit the same issues with displays connected using USB-C to HDMI cables or adapters. All. Of. Them. all cables and adapters work fine when connected directly to the tablet. When connected to the dock sometimes the image will show but as soon as the tablet goes to sleep they will stop receiving the signal even though windows shows the monitors as connected. This is VERY CLEARLY an issue with the surface dock 2 and microsoft should fix it or issue a recall to customers who spent LOTS of money on these non-functional docking stations.

    I tried installing the latest version of the Intel drivers in my Surface Laptop 3, but the driver installation failed (I used the official Intel installer).

    I also tried using a USB-C to Display Port adapter + a Display Port driver and it didn't work either...

    Microsoft, **** is this, you didn't test your own device before launching it to the market or what??

    GIVE US A SOLUTION!!!!

    I recently purchased and installed a surface dock 2 device and i too am getting very strange screen turn on behaviour. I have two external monitor screens configured a Dell 2717H (the screen thats giving me the most problems) and a Samsung U28H75x 4k screen. The problem i get is that the Dell screen only comes on at startup once or twice a week correctly. Otherwise i have to unplug the usb-c cable into the SDock2 rear slots, remove and refit the cable into my Surface 3 laptop at least 4 or five times to get it to come up. The screen is showing in Display settings fine but is just not recognised.

    I have updated the dock2 firmware a few weeks ago and that worked (used the SEMM file) but things have not improved. If i leave the screens powered up overnight (on standby modes) and surface dock powered up even with my laptop off - then they come up normally every time. Same happens is i dont actually power the dock2 device down overnight but turn off the screens and laptop.

    Feels like the dock2 is losing what it knows previously or failing to initialise from a cold boot properly.

    The cables I am using are UNI MS Surface laptop and Dock2 compatible ones. I am getting to the point of trying a different cable as its possible that is the issue but need to know which one I have to source, else I waste my money.

    Or do i just have an unreliable Friday build Dock2 unit? Its very frustrating and wastes a lot of my time in the mornings getting my setup running.

    Please advise

    I'm just jumping on the bandwagon.

    Same issue. Just bought a Surface Dock 2 on the belief that I could connect by SP6 to an external monitor via the USB-C port.

    Fails to work - detects the monitor and its speaks but no picture or sound.

    Works fine with a USB-C to HDMI connection however I wanted the other benefits of USB-C.

    I've spent hours with Microsoft support which no success.

    Read point 2. I think their issue is the same for a lot of Surface Dock 2 customers.
