i have a 1tb seagate goflex and this worked for me (although the led on my drive still turns off until i access my drive again). my original wire(usb3) is finicky so i purchased a new longer one(usb3), when i use the longer cord, my drive lights the led
to show it has power but does not connect possibly because of lack of sufficient power in longer cord. its been several months since release of the sp3 so i hope microsoft is releasing or in the works of an actual permanent fix for this issue.
This regedit patch didn't work for me.
I still have to unplug the usb3 lead and replug for the SP3 to recognise it.
This is after a restart and shutdown reboot. SP3 was in the dock the whole time.
I have a Seagate 1.5TB with its own power supply.
Very disappointed with how useless the docking capability is.
I am running:
- an external screen via an active link
- DVD/CD via usb3
- wired keyboard and mouse via usb2
- external speakers
- 1.5tb external drive via usb3
cold docking (SP3 off when docking and undocking) is problematic
hot docking (SP3 on) - totally forget it.
SP3 marketed as a Desktop replacement? in your dreams...
