Surface Pro 11 Keyboard Not Responding when Turning off at Night and Turning on the Next Day

I have a Surface Pro 11 where the keyboard will not respond when turning it off at night and turning it back on the next morning. The only way I have found to get it to respond is to unmount and mount keyboard. It will not occur when putting it in sleep mode overnight. It will not occur when turning the tablet off and back on when not sitting overnight. I have checked for updates. I have tried cleaning the contacts.

I have contacted support through the Surface app doing a chat session. I was transferred to 4 different departments. More time was spent transferring me then resolving the concern. Yes, the concern was never resolved. The last transfer was to the business department because although I purchased both the Surface Pro and keyboard online through retail channels support says the keyboard is a business keyboard. I haven't heard back from business support yet. I don't know if they will tell me that since the Surface Pro is retail so they will not be able to help me. Another remedy was to reinstall the recovery software but there would be no guarantee the problem would be resolved. I declined since I spent hours installing all my apps.

I also contacted CoPilot but it had the usual remedies. I do not want to mount and unmount the keyboard every day to use it. The Surface Pro and keyboard is still within the return period.

    I have a recently purchased Surface Pro 11. I also had this problem. Following the suggestions of some other respondents,

    Turning off the computer with the keyboard or touchscreen, rather than by closing the keyboard hinge mechanism, seems to avoid the problem.

    I have had at least 8 successful instances of starting or waking the computer with no keyboard problem.

    Try turning the computer off using your method and immediately fold the keyboard/cover over the screen. Does it start the next day with the keyboard working? What I have found is delaying folding the keyboard over the screen for a few minutes will have the keyboard responding the next day. I haven't checked it lately but if you fold the keyboard over the screen immediately AND turn the computer back on within the next hour (not over night) the keyboard will respond. Yes, it doesn't make sense. It is like the computer is doing something although it is turned off.

    Hello Microsoft,

    The snapdragon surface pro 11 does need a fix for this. I've tried many keyboards with the same result. Even the new flex keyboard. Any time you start the surface after its been off for a period of time you have to physically detach the keyboard and reconnect it. You dont even get a mouse curser until you do so. I'm on 2 other messages boards and we all need a firmware fix.

    And putting device in hibernation isn't a fix either. The pro 11 should work like the pro 10's do.

    Just adding my name to the list. Purchased Surface Pro w/ pro keyboard two weeks ago and, after closing the cover for the night and reopening in the morning, which I have done with previous Surfaces, the keyboard is unresponsive. Have to unmount and mount. Please fix this issue as it has not been an issue with previous models.

    Glad to know I'm not going crazy. I'm experiencing the same phenomenon- and using a different type cover doesn't do anything.
