Surface Pro 11 Keyboard Not Responding when Turning off at Night and Turning on the Next Day

I have a Surface Pro 11 where the keyboard will not respond when turning it off at night and turning it back on the next morning. The only way I have found to get it to respond is to unmount and mount keyboard. It will not occur when putting it in sleep mode overnight. It will not occur when turning the tablet off and back on when not sitting overnight. I have checked for updates. I have tried cleaning the contacts.

I have contacted support through the Surface app doing a chat session. I was transferred to 4 different departments. More time was spent transferring me then resolving the concern. Yes, the concern was never resolved. The last transfer was to the business department because although I purchased both the Surface Pro and keyboard online through retail channels support says the keyboard is a business keyboard. I haven't heard back from business support yet. I don't know if they will tell me that since the Surface Pro is retail so they will not be able to help me. Another remedy was to reinstall the recovery software but there would be no guarantee the problem would be resolved. I declined since I spent hours installing all my apps.

I also contacted CoPilot but it had the usual remedies. I do not want to mount and unmount the keyboard every day to use it. The Surface Pro and keyboard is still within the return period.

    I don't know if this is conclusive but I just noticed that if you turn the Surface Pro on BEFORE lowering the keyboard/cover that keyboard will respond when it normally doesn't. Yes, I do realize that it may be difficult to know if the computer was actually turned on since the display isn't visible and this may not be your normal process in using the computer. I lowered the keyboard almost immediately after pressing the power button. I only checked this twice, the reason I said it isn't conclusive.

    I believe this is verified. I tried this 5 times so far and every time the keyboard was responsive.

    Add my SP11 to the list of affected devices. I am experiencing the same problem - shutdown the machine, close the type cover, leave overnight (or for awhile), reboot - the keyboard is completely unresponsive. Have to physically disconnect and reconnect for the machine to recognize the type cover and render it operational again.

    Tried posting on the Surface subreddit but to no avail. Really hoping MS gets the figured out and patched soon - really hate having to disconnect/reconnect my type cover every time I boot my machine.

    Not here. Applied the update, hibernated (I have the power button assigned to that), powered up within about 5 minutes, and the keyboard was not responsive.

    I don't personally have a problem any more. As I think I mentioned above, I got in the habit of hibernating my Surface 7 because it would always stay hot during charging while sleeping (the device and me :-) ), even when plugged in overnight and the battery was clearly fully charged. No such issue with this Snapdragon Pro on Win11, so I just sleep it by closing the lid, plugged in or not. But I do care about the other sufferers so I'd be interested if anyone else still has the bug after the recent update.

    We are talking about the update that appeared this week but was dated 11/21/2024, right?

    With the latest software and hardware update, nothing has changed for me. The bug is still there. I use my Surface Pro differently from you as I always/mostly turn the computer off. Like you, I have adapted. I delay folding the keyboard over the screen for a few minutes after turning it off. Sometimes, I am in a hurry so I just fold the keyboard over the screen knowing that the keyboard will need to be detached when turning it back on.
