Surface Dock keeps waking up external monitor

My monitor (LG 29UM68) is connected to Surface Dock -> SP4, via direct miniDisplayPort.

It keeps entering sleep mode and waking up repeatedly, even though my SP4 is asleep. This does not happen when I connect the monitor to SP4 directly.

Another issue is that if I set to PC Screen Only, after few seconds, it will automatically switch back to external monitor only. Again, this does not happen if I connect monitor to SP4 directly.

These 2 issues only arise if I use Surface Dock.

I have gone through all the steps here (https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-sg/support/hardware-and-drivers/troubleshoot-docking-station-surface-dock) successfully, but issue persist.

Please help.

    Yes, it was quite fast. Dock firmware is the latest. I even tried to change the cable: I used display port to display port + display port-mini display port adapter, now it is display port -> mini display port cable. Still the same issue. 

    Any other ideas?

    Dock firmware is 2.1.6.0?

    Although my problem was apparently solved without this update. But doesn't hurt to try and check once more. It's frustrating indeed.

    Others have seen this fixed with firmware 2.1.6, but it did not solve the issue in my case.

    I am on:

    Dock F irmware 2.1.15.0

    on a surface book

    with Windows 10 Pro 1703 Build 15063.413

    and the external monitor is a:

    G 34UM68-P 34-Inch 21:9 UltraWide IPS Monitor

    Please respond with notes on what progress has been made to replicate the issue and what the timeline is for a fix

    I have a Surface 3 (non Pro) and sadly, I have this exact same issue.  Win 10 1703 creators update and every update Windows 10 will fetch/detect.  When put to sleep the monitor constantly wakes up and goes back to sleep, wakes up, goes back to sleep.  It'll also make the sound like a USB device is being plugged/unplugged sometimes.

    Worst part is, I don't even think they make dock firmware updates for mine but who knows, it's confusing as heck.  Microsoft really did a disservice to the support side of their products by not making them more distinguishable from each other.  Now they've made it worse but dropping the generation number.

    Hi,

    To help you isolate the issue that you're experiencing on your Surface 3, can you tell us if the external monitor acts the same way it did if you connect it to the Surface 3 directly?

    You can also try to fix the issue by running the Surface Software Repair Tool.
