Right Surface Earbud Not Working

So my surface earbuds decided to not work one day when I took them out of the charging case. The right earbud specifically. So I tried to re-dock them in the case and wait a few minutes and try again, didn't work. I re-paired them as well, didn't work. I reset to factory settings, didn't work. I connected to my phone and still didn't work.

Then I tried to raise and lower the volume on that earbud which works and also tapping for Cortana works too but no sound. However, I noticed when I had my fingers pressing on it the sound came through which leads me to believe it's a hardware issue, not a software issue.

I've had them for a year so if I'm stuck with worthless $200 headphones I won't be getting anything from them again, this is BS.

In that case, it's more likely a hardware problem already. Please contact our support mentioned on my initial reply. Check the exchange options for your earbuds or have it replaced immediately.

    Kind regards,

Would I be able to exchange my earbuds even if they are older than 1 year? I am past the 90 days to return them and past a year to have them covered by warranty. Because it is a hardware problem I am still able to exchange them? Or do i need to cough up $100 because i charged the earbuds in their case!!?

    Thanks

    Hi

I am now experiencing the same issue and have tried nearly all the ways you mentioned!!

The only difference is that: it happened to me on the day 1 when I unpacked it from the box!!!

Unfortunately it was already 3 months after i have purchased it (yes, it was purchased together with Surface and i have other earplugs, so i didn't bother to unpack and use it right away).

And it seems i cannot request a new one, as there is no such button like "return or request a new one" on my overview when i log in to my Microsoft account....

i tried to contact Microsoft through phone calls, but it never worked.

This is such an unpleasant and frustrating experience!! i cannot even use it for one full day and it's broken!!!

If anyone knows how to contact Microsoft or has any advice about what i should do, please please let me know!

    : ( .....

and by the way: i have called the Netherlands support hotline like 100 times, and every time, they need to redirect me +5 times to the right contact, and there was once, after redirecting for many times, the person just who seems to be the final right contact just hang up the moment when he picked up the phone, and i couldnt even hear what he said....

so so so so so frustrating. i used to think Microsoft is a good customer-focused company. But it seems it is not the truth.
