Surface Dock keeps disconnecting/reconnecting USB devices with Surface Book 2

Hi

I just bought a Surface Book 2 and a surface dock.

The dock is connected to 2 monitors and USB keyboard (Razer Huntsman Elite) and mouse Razer Hyperflux Mamba/Firefly.

Both keep disconnecting/reconnecting randomly. Mostly when running games, but sometimes also when running office application.

I have reinstalled the Surface Dock Firmware updater but it doesn't help.

I have done the latest updates, but it doesn't help either.

I cannot find much info in the event viewer, but SurfaceDockFwUpdate errors (event ID 2005 2006 and 2007).

Any ideas where this could come from?

This is becoming ridiculous, it sometimes disconnects every 5-10 sec.

How did you apply for the replacement? Online?

Did you need the original receipt etc?

    Thanks,

    Ron

I'm constantly having this issue. I noticed it happens majority of the time when the CPU spikes to max, it will start connecting and disconnecting my mouse, keyboard and headphones which are all plugged into the surface dock. Firmware update 1.42.139 does not fix the issue, I've been running that firmware version for awhile now.

Yes, I also have this happen A LOT and updating firmware fixed things for about 2 days before it started happening again with CPU spikes. Restarting my computer is the only way to get it to stop.

In my case, the docking port docks a USB keyboard and a 2nd display/monitor, which is more CPU-intensive.

This is my 2nd docking port. The Surface Book has been a real powerhorse, but the docking port is pretty junky.

The same issue is happening to me as well. As a workaround I am plugging my USB devices (mouse/keyboard) directly into my Surface Book 2 (15"). This somewhat defeats the purpose of having a Surface Dock if I can't even use the USB ports. It mostly occurs when the CPU and computer is under higher load, I hear the fan come on and then the USB ports on the dock disconnect/reconnect intermittently. It is very frustrating that all of my equipment is fairly new.

I have updated all devices to the latest firmware (Surface Book and Dock). I reinstalled Windows 10 Pro and it is still happening. I have gone on to use three different docks and they all do the same thing. I think it may be related to power consumption as the 15" Surface Book 2 draws a lot of power under high load. Could be related to why the computer draws more power than it takes in when playing games and utilizing the GPU (known issue already).

Hopefully Microsoft can issue a replacement or figure out what the issue may be.
