Surface Dock keeps disconnecting/reconnecting USB devices with Surface Book 2

Hi

I just bought a Surface Book 2 and a surface dock.

The dock is connected to 2 monitors and USB keyboard (Razer Huntsman Elite) and mouse Razer Hyperflux Mamba/Firefly.

Both keep disconnecting/reconnecting randomly. Mostly when running games, but sometimes also when running office application.

I have reinstalled the Surface Dock Firmware updater but it doesn't help.

I have done the latest updates, but it doesn't help either.

I cannot find much info in the event viewer, but SurfaceDockFwUpdate errors (event ID 2005 2006 and 2007).

Any ideas where this could come from?

This is becoming ridiculous, it sometimes disconnects every 5-10 sec.

I'm thinking of buying a powered USB hub, I'm pretty sure the issue is that power sent to USB ports is not enough, and help from an external could help.

Once I find the right one, I'll post an update.

    I have the same issue.

Razer keyboard keeps disconnecting and reconnecting while connected to dock and playing a game.

C'mon Microsoft - this cost me close to $5,000 for surface book 2, pen and dock.

Pretty unacceptable that this dock behaves like this. I'd expect that from some cheap Chinese knockoff - not a Microsoft branded premium product like the surface book and dock.

    Hi Guys

Just an update - I manually installed the latest driver and firmware updates from Microsoft and this seems to have resolved the issue (Latest msi package as of Jan 2020).

Windows update said there were no updates required, but a manual download and install seemed to fix my issue.

So far no more disconnects while playing games.

    Hello,

I am having the same error on two of the Docks at our org. Making us think maybe we should go with a different brand/product. Hopefully we get some kind of official fix for this as it seems others also have the same question (10 people in the first month of this post).

Lucky we were covered under warranty, only solution we found was to replace and we have had to have two of them replaced so far.

I say replaced but Microsoft doesn't want them back, they just send out a new one.. pretty crazy for how much they are retail. Please let me know if that 2020 driver fixes the issue... i spent a whole week on this back in early Dec 2019.
