Surface Pro 7 and Slim Pen Stop working

Do you have any other suggestions to try because that did not work. I thought it might have as it lasted longer than usual but after editing for a good hour straight, the touch screen and pen both stopped working. J had to restart like usual just to get it to work again.

Hi Michael,

I hate that you're having the same issue! I have taken the steps the tech suggested and we will see how it goes. I will post in this thread in a few days if it worked or post as soon as I see that it did not work. I did the steps about 3 hours ago and so far the touch screen has not quit working and I have not had to restart, but we will see. I don't want to get optimistic and say it worked, then in a little bit it does the same thing.

I just recently purchased the Surface Pro 7 and Slim pen. I am on the third one as I have returned them and gotten a new one due to the touch screen not working. It works fine for a little while then in the middle of editing pictures or using the slim pen the touch screen and pen both stop working. I have done all of the suggested tips (Uninstalling drivers, reinstalling them, etc) and after restarting the Surface Pro 7 they work for awhile and then I'm back to having to restart to get them to work again. I am assuming now it is something with the surface slim pen interfering with the touch screen since I have been through three Pro 7s and not all of them can be messed up. Is there a way to fix this permanently without having to constantly restart my device?

I am a professional photographer and this is seriously messing with my work flow. I can not keep restarting my device every 15 to 30 minutes to get the screen and pen working again. My next step is to return both items and switch completely away from the Surfaces. I don't want to as I have had my Surface Pro 3 for years and love it but it crashed and I had to upgrade. Can anyone tell me what to try to get this issue corrected?

Same issue. Slim pen crashes the intel touch screen driver. I was 2hrs with ms support today, trying to troubleshoot as so far nothing helped. Not replacing the SP7. No crashes using the finger. But thats useless when sitting in classroom trying to take notes.

Driver is from 2019. Did not get updated with the SP7 November update.

I've actually had the EXACT same issue, and was about to post my own when I happen to see this one. I too am a photographer that bought both the Surface Pro 7 and Slim Pen not long ago for school/editing. I started having issues, just like you, where the touch screen stops working while using the pen. Only a restart seems to fix it. I went through about a month of technical support trouble shooting, and at the end of all that was told the device was messed up and was sent a new one. I lost over 50$ worth of decals I had put on the back, but figured what the heck if that would fix the issue. Day 1 of having the new device, I quickly found out that the issue had not been resolved. That immediately made me think this was an issue on Microsoft's side and not due to hardware corruption/defect. Microsoft advertises the pen to work with the Surface Pro 7, otherwise I would have gotten the surface pen instead. Please let me know if the agent's advice helped, figuring it wont but you never know. This whole situation has been so frustrating, not only am I out 50$ for my decals, but I'm also down $125 because the pen doesn't work.
