I just recently purchased the Surface Pro 7 and Slim pen. I am on the third one as I have returned them and gotten a new one due to the touch screen not working. It works fine for a little while then in the middle of editing pictures or using the slim pen the touch screen and pen both stop working. I have done all of the suggested tips (Uninstalling drivers, reinstalling them, etc) and after restarting the Surface Pro 7 they work for awhile and then I'm back to having to restart to get them to work again. I am assuming now it is something with the surface slim pen interfering with the touch screen since I have been through three Pro 7s and not all of them can be messed up. Is there a way to fix this permanently without having to constantly restart my device?
I am a professional photographer and this is seriously messing with my work flow. I can not keep restarting my device every 15 to 30 minutes to get the screen and pen working again. My next step is to return both items and switch completely away from the Surfaces. I don't want to as I have had my Surface Pro 3 for years and love it but it crashed and I had to upgrade. Can anyone tell me what to try to get this issue corrected?

I can assure you, that the SLIM PEN is not working with the Surface Pro 7. I had the Slim Pen for a month and had daily crashes of the touch screen driver - so I ordered a pen, which is not manufactured by Microsoft.
As expected, the touch screen driver is not crashing anymore and I don't have to hibernate the Surface to reload the driver again.

I also have the identical problem. was online with microsoft to reinstall drivers etc...that worked for a bout 30 minutes. I was then told to return the surface for a new one, but from what I read here that doesn't solve the problem.
I am going to try to exchange the slim pen for a normal surface pen in hopes that fixes the problem.
Only have had the surface for 3 days.
Has using the normal surface pen worked to solve this issue and is there any other recommendations I should do?
If anyone has any other suggestions that would be great.

Pen replacement didn't seem to work for me. They're possibly going to send me the pen that was originally made for the SP7...
I wonder... I got my tablet (SP7) and Slim Pen about 1-2 months before the 20H2 update and I feel like I had issues occasionally, not as bad as now but still. I wish I could get this fixed. I've been on a 4-6mo technical support journey and still no luck.
I believe you are correct. I posted about my issues when this topic was posted. After I received the replacement pen and tested I soon found the issue to continue. I continued contact with support and they increased my case to the next level. We tried some basic troubleshooting steps and the problem continued. Over the course of testing, I've noticed that if my device is plugged in, the chances of the problem happening goes way down. If the surface is unplugged, the problem seems to happen 10-15min after starting to use. Im currently waiting to hear back on next steps, but I figure next steps is to send me the pen that was originally made for the Surface Pro 7 and forget about the surface slim pen.
