I just recently purchased the Surface Pro 7 and Slim pen. I am on the third one as I have returned them and gotten a new one due to the touch screen not working. It works fine for a little while then in the middle of editing pictures or using the slim pen the touch screen and pen both stop working. I have done all of the suggested tips (Uninstalling drivers, reinstalling them, etc) and after restarting the Surface Pro 7 they work for awhile and then I'm back to having to restart to get them to work again. I am assuming now it is something with the surface slim pen interfering with the touch screen since I have been through three Pro 7s and not all of them can be messed up. Is there a way to fix this permanently without having to constantly restart my device?
I am a professional photographer and this is seriously messing with my work flow. I can not keep restarting my device every 15 to 30 minutes to get the screen and pen working again. My next step is to return both items and switch completely away from the Surfaces. I don't want to as I have had my Surface Pro 3 for years and love it but it crashed and I had to upgrade. Can anyone tell me what to try to get this issue corrected?

I can assure you, that the SLIM PEN is not working with the Surface Pro 7. I had the Slim Pen for a month and had daily crashes of the touch screen driver - so I ordered a pen, which is not manufactured by Microsoft.
As expected, the touch screen driver is not crashing anymore and I don't have to hibernate the Surface to reload the driver again.

I wonder... I got my tablet (SP7) and Slim Pen about 1-2 months before the 20H2 update and I feel like I had issues occasionally, not as bad as now but still. I wish I could get this fixed. I've been on a 4-6mo technical support journey and still no luck.

I'm from Ukraine, and I can't return or change my pen.
But... I think I've found a solution for me.
I've just turned off my Bluetooth. Some of pen's functions don't work(like top button click) but I can write, I can erase .
At this moment it's a best solution for me. All this day it works fine without any issues.
I will keep monitoring it

After one week of regular use, I can confirm that my new regulat PEN did the trick. The touch function does no longer crash.
Mind that I have updated to the latest firmware of the Sp7 and I kept running factory default Win10 1909. I did not update to 20H2

Sorry for not replying sooner. Life is a bit busy right now. Anyway because of personal reasons I have not made it to best buy to switch out my pen but I did start using the pen that came with my SP3 and so far I have not had an issue. I believe this issue is caused by the Surface Slim Pen. Its a great concept to have a chargeable pen, that's why I bought it because I go through batteries like crazy. I believe Microsoft needs to look into this issue further so that we can use this pen without it crashing the touch screen driver. Hopefully they can figure out the issue and fix it.
