Thanks for the link to a pretty good discussion on the various Windows tablets.
For those of you thinking of getting a Microsoft tablet or even a third party tablet that runs Windows 8, 8.1 or Windows RT this discussion is worth viewing.
The video was dated June 4 2013, it's just that so many of us purchased our Surface RT tablets months ago.
Now having said all of that:
For Microsoft to have intentionally hobbled the Surface RT is in my opinion still a CROCK...
The guy that was leading the discussion Mike Niehaus, did a web demo of going to the compatibility website for Windows Surface RT, and even he could not find a wired Ethernet adapter that was compatible with Windows Surface RT, although he was sure there
must be one somewhere on the site and in the list.
Is it possible the he and Microsoft at large do not know there are no compatible wired Ethernet adapters with drivers available?
Is Microsoft saying that if you use wired Ethernet you must be an enterprise (even if the network is in your home)?
Is Microsoft not aware that you typically get much better performance via a wired connection versus a wireless connection?
Maybe Microsoft is trying to protect the sales of their own Surface Pro or their vendor partners Windows 8 & 8.1 tablets at the usability expense of us Surface RT users.
Why is Microsoft Making The iPad Appear To Be a Much Nicer Device?
With the head start that Apple has on Windows devices it would appear to me that Microsoft would not want to intentionally shoot itself in the foot by making an otherwise great tablet that is intentionally crippled for no good reason.
How hard could it be for Microsoft release drivers for wired Ethernet adapters, and for USB DVD players/burners?
Maybe it's just in my own mind, but Surface RT seems like a much better tablet than an iPad
even if it's running Windows RT.
