Mouse freeze on surface book 2 after the most recent firmware UEFI version 389.2268.769.0 update!!! especially when power adapter plugged in

i got the "USB Selective suspend" afrer using the Reg File Add_USB_selective_suspend_setting_to_Power_Options.reg

which added the folloring to my Registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\2a737441-1930-4402-8d77-b2bebba308a3\48e6b7a6-50f5-4782-a5d4-53bb8f07e226]

"Attributes"=dword:00000002

and after disabling the USB Suspend my (corded) mouse is working as it should :-)

Thanks. Using the Reg File, I was able to add the USB selective suspend setting to the menu.

Changing the setting to not allow selective suspend reduced the frequency of mouse freezes. However, it still freezes often enough that I've gone back to using a Bluetooth mouse.

Hope Microsoft issues a fix for this soon. (SKU: Surface Book i7 Model 1793. 15 in. UEFI: 389.2318.768.0. Power mode: "Better performance." Computer is less than three weeks old.)

Disabling selective suspend did not work for me either. This is simply unacceptable for such a high profile company like Microsoft.

I have the exact same problem.  I don't know why it has taken Microsoft so long to work this out.  I need to have my Surface on "Better" or "Best" for work and I can not.  I also can not do the "unplug the power" solution since I have my Surface set up to 2 external displays through the power brick.

This seems to be an issue with the way the computer handle the switching of the Intel GPU and Nvidia GPU.  That is the reason it almost never happens on "Best Battery Life" since it doesn't swap to the Nvidia GPU (I have had the freeze a couple of times on Best Battery Life).  People have pointed out that they don't have any issues when playing video games (because the Nvidia GPU is the only one active and the Surface won't switch to the Intel), only when they are using it as a normal computer, which is exactly the same issues I have.

I can confirm that this issue did not start until the UEFI update that messed it up.  My Surface was acting normally until then and I know someone that has an identical Surface Book 2 as me who hasn't updated the UEFI and he has no issues at all.

Some "fixes" for other Surface products requires downloading a set of Intel GPU drivers from Intel directly and changing an option in one of the settings, then disabling automatic updates so Microsoft doesn't try to push out their version of the Intel GPU drivers.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find a solution for the Surface Book 2.

This makes an awful lot of sense! And here I thought I was close with my Power Distribution considerations. It's a bummer really, because the exact same thing (Microsoft Intel GPU Drivers being shitty) had me going through several laps of Install / Uninstall on my Surface Pro 3 in the past...

But the odd thing is that if I use a Logitech MX mouse (Bluetooth connected directly to the computer using no dongle), I don't get any mouse pointer freezes.  It is only with USB or USB dongle mice.  I have tried this with Logitech (both wired and wireless dongle) and a SteelSeries mouse.  So if you want to get around the freezing, you may want to look into a Bluetooth mouse.  I can't guarantee all Bluetooth mice will work, but that one does.  My issue is I bind a lot of commands to my mouse to speed up productivity and switching away from my G502 would make things hard on me and I don't feel I should have to spend upwards of $100 on a comparable mouse just because of Microsoft's screw-up.
