How to press the <Insert> key when it's not there?

Given that there is no <Insert> key on the Surface/Type keyboard, what key combination will generate the <Insert> key scan code?

While a bit of a kludge, leave your window active, click the window key to the 'Start' panel.  Drag top or bottom to expose All Apps and open it.  Drag all the way right to the ease of use section and it's On-Screen Keyboard.  Open it.  Drag from the left edge to expose your app.   Insert is middle of the right side of the kb.  Pause is there too (window +Pause is one of my favs... with no pause key on other easily access kbs on the Surface)

    NOT.

    It was resolved on the Surface Pro 4 keyboard, which is of no value to Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2 owners since it cannot work with those models. This is a major faux pas for Microsoft which really doesn't care about older models or their customers who bought them because they don't have to.

    In what way is this a solution?

    This question applied to the first generation Surface machines.  Fortunately a physical <Insert> key did manage to reappear in some later generation.  I doubt Microsoft will win any awards for their responsiveness, but still this issue is solved and this thread should be consider complete.

    the only way I found the insert key was using the on-screen keyboard in our DOS base system.

    I went to my Start Key, in the SEARCH field I typed  on-screen keyboard and add it to my PC.

    When I am in my DOS application the insert key on this on-screen keyboard did work.

    I hope you find this helpful and solves our INSERT key problem until MS updates their equipment to include our valuable INSERT key.
