How to press the <Insert> key when it's not there?

Given that there is no <Insert> key on the Surface/Type keyboard, what key combination will generate the <Insert> key scan code?

While a bit of a kludge, leave your window active, click the window key to the 'Start' panel.  Drag top or bottom to expose All Apps and open it.  Drag all the way right to the ease of use section and it's On-Screen Keyboard.  Open it.  Drag from the left edge to expose your app.   Insert is middle of the right side of the kb.  Pause is there too (window +Pause is one of my favs... with no pause key on other easily access kbs on the Surface)

    Hi all, on my Lenovo E145 laptop, German QWERTZ-keyboard, using Docear mindmapping software, the replacement for the insert key is "Fn" and "i" pressed simultaneously.

    Thank you Iggy,

    I discovered that in mindjet mindmanager the replacement for INS is ctrl-enter. 

    The tip LCRT gave us to change the keyboard layout was not too helpful for me since I did not find the possibility to enter function keys, only characters...

    Can you also program INS code in stead of only characters there? In the instructions I only see characters...

    About choosing another bluetooth keyboard: with the surface pro you miss the point there, this is about the click-on cover that gives you the advantage of a thin tablet, otherwise you would have two devices again, including the hassle of charging it seperately, storing it, bluetooth connection not available any more for other devices etc. ...
