How to press the <Insert> key when it's not there?

Given that there is no <Insert> key on the Surface/Type keyboard, what key combination will generate the <Insert> key scan code?

While a bit of a kludge, leave your window active, click the window key to the 'Start' panel.  Drag top or bottom to expose All Apps and open it.  Drag all the way right to the ease of use section and it's On-Screen Keyboard.  Open it.  Drag from the left edge to expose your app.   Insert is middle of the right side of the kb.  Pause is there too (window +Pause is one of my favs... with no pause key on other easily access kbs on the Surface)

    Problem with missing INS key is finally solved by Microsoft!

    Today I received my new keyboard WITH INS KEY!

    It came out along with Surface Pro 4 but it works just fine with my Surface Pro 3.

    See the picture below.

    Keys now take most of the keyboard width, they have distinct gaps, property key added (I never use it though), Fn key moved left and lock LED added to it and with beautiful bigger glass touchpad!

    My old type keyboard is going to eBay to people that don't really care about Ins key.

    I love the new Microsoft - Microsoft that listens!

    The Surface came out when Steve Ballmer was the CEO. Not including an INS key is yet another one of the many brain dead moves that were made under his watch. I am so glad he is gone.

    Why can't someone make a new keyboard that includes the INS key?

    I agree, completely stupid design. But easy to work around. Use SharpKeys by Randy Rants or another key remapper, and remap the F12 key if you don't need it to INS. While there you can remap Caps (I remap mine to Shift).

    Also painful on the very fine but also very stupid keyboard is the distance of the Fn key from PgUp etc. IMO they should have found space for independent keys.

    I'm going with the Chris Christie connection.  The alternative -- MS dropping the much appreciated and oft-used INSERT key -- just makes so much less sense to me...
