Fantastic! I was just wondering if something like that was possible today. Which leads are to the different cells? Did you just measure the output voltage of the interface on the surface?

I've seen many post, but no answers? Surface Pro Classic and just bought a Power Cover. Power Cover is recognized as both a keyboard and a battery under devises. All firmware ever pushed is there and updated. Battery #1 and Battery #2 show in the battery menu...but not charging or maybe 100% charged is completely depleted.
Once the internal battery reaches 80% (or so) the Power Cover charge goes from 0% to 100% and not charging. Once the internal battery is depleted, the Surface shuts off and the Power Cover sits there happily doing nothing to help.
Has Microsoft just ignored the many people that this problem has occurred to, or is there not a fix. I'm trying to hold out till the Surface Go, but this battery thing is annoying to deal with.
Please don't add the gif. of how the batteries charge or how the blue fills the keyboard and monitor, please please don't answer with that.

2016-10-02T17:45:24+00:00 It's an issue with the battery sitting so long that they get completely discharged...this makes the surface thing at the cover is completely charged because it encounters such a resistance to the charge...if you can get it to charge alittle bit the cover will work gine...luckily mine was still in warranty so I'm waiting for a new one (which I don't have high hopes for) honestly we need to figure out how to force a charge on it many from an external power supply or something

2016-10-02T05:37:11+00:00 I've purchased two Power Covers off of Amazon from two different suppliers, and am getting the same issue on both. The keyboard and trackpad work fine.
The two Power Covers are from two different batches, one with a warranty that expired in April 2015, the other expired in July of this year.
I've been using the newer one, plugging it in and unplugging it in hopes of it starting to take a charge as some online have suggested, but no luck so far. I'm going to give it another week before returning both. Very disappointing.
