I've seen many post, but no answers? Surface Pro Classic and just bought a Power Cover. Power Cover is recognized as both a keyboard and a battery under devises. All firmware ever pushed is there and updated. Battery #1 and Battery #2 show in the battery menu...but not charging or maybe 100% charged is completely depleted.
Once the internal battery reaches 80% (or so) the Power Cover charge goes from 0% to 100% and not charging. Once the internal battery is depleted, the Surface shuts off and the Power Cover sits there happily doing nothing to help.
Has Microsoft just ignored the many people that this problem has occurred to, or is there not a fix. I'm trying to hold out till the Surface Go, but this battery thing is annoying to deal with.
Please don't add the gif. of how the batteries charge or how the blue fills the keyboard and monitor, please please don't answer with that.

why comment on this really, its not like you guys are going to help and replace all of them, by the time we do this stuf, if we do it, we wont be having any warranty anyway. that was a slight mistake, should of installed a gate that can let power in in case this happened, that the batteries drained below the default, a gate should be open to let it in as an emergency so it can recharge again.
I've had the same experience - after 5 months my Power Cover showed a charge yesterday.
I too was just using it as a heavy keyboard but eventually the tired old battery inside the Power Cover has started to work.
Yeah, 5 months. I spent the first 2 months dutifully plugging and unplugging the charger (charger out, disconnect keyboard, wait for a few seconds, reconnect keyboard, connect charger) as often as I thought of it. I was heading on an overseas flight and wanted to have the Power Cover operational for it. Obviously it wasn't working by the time I flew out but luckily the seat had a power outlet so I could remain plugged in.
Otherwise I just have the Surface plugged in when at my desk and on battery when I am commuting to work or at a meeting. Then I noticed yesterday the battery for the Power Cover showed a number other than 0% or 100%. It made my day to see it finally doing what it was built to do!
I have it charging now and will be interested to see how many hours use I can now get.
5 months?? By doing what exactly? Just got an email about this thread, I completely forgot i sent in my power cover to Microsoft under warranty. That was last November and I never got a replacement.. guess I should contact them!
