WiFi deteriorates after closing the lid on Surface Book connected to Surface Dock

If I close the lid of my Surface Book while connected to a Surface Dock, WiFi speed will drop from 54 Mbps to as low as 1 Mpbs.  The WiFi router is an AT&T U-Verse Pace 3801 HGV and the power setting for close the lid while plugged in is Do Nothing.  I am taking this thing back to the store for a refund if it can't be fixed.

    Hello all,

    I have upgraded my Surface Pro 2 to a Surface Book which I love dearly, but when I have to do serious work, I need a full size USB keyboard.  I had the brilliant idea of putting the Book into tent mode to use it that way.  Unfortunately, when in tent mode, the Wireless connection speed drops from a normal 117mbps to 5-11 mbps at best.  Has anyone else experienced this?

    some people have found relief by using a USB extension cable. my guess is that

    this is a shielding issue. I don't know if or when this might be addressed or

    even if Microsoft CAN address it.

    I will +1 this thread. I am experiencing the same issue with my Surface Book. Currently I use an external dock and need to leave my lid open half way in order to receive a usable WiFi signal. With the lid closed the signal strength deteriorates with a lot of packet loss. Typically I am unable to stay connected to the WiFi network.

    Our office has experienced the same lid closing problem where the WIFI signal dies when docked and the lid is down. Using inSSIDer , it's quite easy to see the signal strength drop off 15-20db as soon as the lid closes and step back up as soon as the lid opens.
