WiFi deteriorates after closing the lid on Surface Book connected to Surface Dock

If I close the lid of my Surface Book while connected to a Surface Dock, WiFi speed will drop from 54 Mbps to as low as 1 Mpbs.  The WiFi router is an AT&T U-Verse Pace 3801 HGV and the power setting for close the lid while plugged in is Do Nothing.  I am taking this thing back to the store for a refund if it can't be fixed.

    Just to add credence to the issue, I am experiencing the exact same symptoms.  Surface Book connected to surface dock with two external monitors: If I close the Surface Book to just use the external monitors, Wifi performance is considerably impacted; In my case, I cannot even connect to the access point.  If I open the Surface Book, Wifi connection is restored without reboot or sign out.

    Please advise if MS engineers were able to reproduce the issue.

    I've sent email to an internal contact to see if they can do some testing around this. Don't know if or when, but it's the best I can do.

    I did this and moved the whole set-up: external monitor, Surface Book, and Surface Dock, to the same room where the Wi-Fi access point is located.  I did get some sporadic signal degradation, from 54 Mbps to 12 Mbps, after closing the lid but not as bad as in the other room, where it can go down to 1 Mbps.  What is hard to understand is that I get the same signal strength (number of bars) and speed in both rooms with the lid open.  How can antenna characteristics change so much?

    Daniel can reply for himself.  I am connected to an external monitor (Dell S2340L) using the Surface Dock and I suffer from the same problem as Daniel. 

    Oher issues

    When I disconnect from the Surface Dock, the font on the tabs and bars on IE11 do not reset from the resolution on the external monitor, they become illegibly small, and the only way to fix the problem is to turn off and on the Book.

    Often when the screens turn off (I have it set to not turn off for 4 hours when plugged in) it is extremely difficult to turn them on again.  Many times the only fix is to unplug the Book from the Dock, connect the charger, and power on the Book again.

    I got the Surface Book and Dock as a present from my husband, who works from Microsoft.  He thought that I would be delighted, but I am disappointed if not frustrated.  The problems are so incomprehensible that he will send an email to Panos any day now.
