Surface 8 Pro - new SSD - compatibility with PCIe 4

Hello,

is the Surface 8 Pro compatible with PCIe 4 drives or can I only use PCIe 3 ssd?

If not all drives are compatible, which drives work?

    So I just got a Corsair MP600 Mini 1TB drive and after putting it in I just kept on having crashes. I've tried recovery but that only made things worse. The drive works fine in an enclosure. It just doesn't make any sense. Can someone please help me make it run :(
    Why is Microsoft not doing anything!!!

    Hello,

    Changed the disc today by Corsair MP600 Mini 1TB. Reseted all power settings in regedit with the standard value.

    Everything works fine: no freeze, no trouble event in sleep / hibernate mode.

    Speed is little lower than your system and lower than with the WD SN740 1 TB, but absolutely stable and faster than with the original Kioxia BG4 256 GB.

    I'm trying at this time to clone my WD SN740 to my new Corsaire MP600 Mini to obtain a stable system.

    I think the problem with WD SN740 is that this drive needs 2.85A under 3.3V (so max 9.4W) to work. And this is too high for the port of the SP8 Pro. The Corsair MP600 Mini needs only 2.5A under 3.3V (so max 8.2W) and probably this sinificant difference is the reason why it works.

    I'll try in somes hours (because problem with my cloning solution.

    It's been a few days since I started using my new Corsair MP600 Mini.

    So far, I had no issues with the drive at all. Its speeds are best in class as well. I had no need to apply any registry settings.

    I was able to get the device to sleep and resume from sleep, both while connected to power and on battery.

    My Surface Pro 8 didn't even crash once. Everything seems to go smoothly with this drive.

    Is it safe to say it is compatible? I would say it is!😊 but I would love to hear more input from you guys as well.

    In my case, I gave up. Microsoft's support won't help, even with thousands of people having the same issue, they will not patch this (I've contacted support telling the whole story and stating that the only thing I was not able to fix was when it sleeps/hibernates, and the final answer was "your SSD is not compatible"). So, I've just bought a PCIe 3 PM991a 1TB. Works just fine!
