Surface 8 Pro - new SSD - compatibility with PCIe 4

I'm trying to get my SN740 to work. I've applied the power options discussed above but I'm experiencing reboots when device is put into sleep mode. Can anyone help?

I can confirm that this also much improved the compatibility for me with a WD SN740 - it was super unstable before. I setup the power options via command line in my original install and then cloned that install to my new SN740.

More than doubled the speed of my read/write with the new SSD - getting reads of over 5,000MB/s and writes of 3,800.

so i been having the same issue as everyone else and what fixed the issue for me was a low level format of the ssd and downloading the AHCI Link Power Management HIPM-DIPM Power Options after you download the power options set it up to active and it should fix the issue btw im using a bg5 ssd

I guess, the Koaxia BG4 is a PCIe 3.0 drive and the BG5 is the 4.0 version.

So it seems, that the Surface cannot use those drives.

This makes an official statement even more necessary, since the drives are downward compatible!

I have bought a SN740 1TB SSD (2230) which is a PCIe 4.0 drive recently to upgrade the SSD drive on my Surface Pro 8. However the device keep rebooting everytime when I tried to install the window from image on a USB drive to the new SSD. It come up with error such as "clock watchdog timeout" etc and cannot finish the windows installation process. When I swap back the original SSD (Koxia BG4 256GB, PCIe 4.0) then everything back to normal.

I have seen people having similar problem with Koxia BG5 which is also PCIe 4.0.

Not sure if there will be a fix on that.....
