Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

Yes, I ended up working with wholesale gadget parts (WGP.com) 

Screen used to replace my pro4 version 1,  SKU MI00067, 119.99, LCD Transfer flex cable sku MI00105, 7.99, tesla blacks double stick tape SKU-TL00477, 4.49

Now if during the screen removal you  mangle your antennae as I did, use , 1 mil copper foil EMI shielding conductive adhesive tape you can buy on ebay for about 10.95. You must be sure these antennae are almost the same as what was installed and be sure the copper wraps around under the antennae board so when screwed down the copper makes contact with the required points on the main frame.

When you remove the screen youll need to disconnect the cables from touch digitizer connector controller board, be careful because the clasp that holds the cable down and secure can be broken, new board costs about 12.00

Now these are the parts I used to redo my Pro 4, I messed up and broke some things that cost me extra but in the end I fixed my Pro 4 by myslef by watching videos and asking the tech guys at WGP. Before you buy any parts for your Pro 4 talk to the tech guys at WGP (Brian is the main guy) to be sure you get the right stuff for your pro 4.

The reason I did my own repair is because I felt I had nothing for me to lose. If my repair didnt work I could send the screen back for a refund so I would be out of pocket very little. I didnt want to spend the money to have somebody do this for me as the cost would exceed the benefit as you can buy a used pro 4 for under 500, some with new screens and some possibly with new pro 5 screens already installed as they are rebuilt for resale market. BTW WGP may do repairs I never asled so if your interested ask them for a quote or repair referral.

Good luck, lots of misinformation online, I was told by several so called experts that a pro 5 screen wouldnt work unless I had the Version 2 pro 4 which I didnt. Kept asking around and found some who said Pro 5 screen would work so gave it a try and it did. The one guy who turned me to on WGP and swappinjg the pro 4 screen with pro 5 I found on Ebay selling refurbished pro 4, he was good enough to share with me at no financial gain to himself.

Well well well, i am the newest entrant to this seemingly unresolvable issue. My screen is a mess. I am highly dependent on this laptop and my current fight is regrets on my choice of PC. It is discouraging to read through all these comments. I am forced admit too that calling this a premium device is an overstatement when sustainable support is practically non-existent. I miss those Dell and HP choices i made in the past.

If your have screen flicker and ghosting the screen in your pro 4 is probably the cause, it can be corrected as discussed in previous post. If you were to remove the screen yourself, plenty of videos to watch on how to do this, not ez job, just requires patience, slow and steady light touch using items you ahve around the house, hair dryers, deck of cards, some tooth picks, scrapper, all of these have been used during screen removal videos. Nothing to lose to try DIY, speak with wholesale gadget paarts they helped me through the process and getting the correct parts needed.

I like my pro 4 and it was worth my time and effort to fix, Im far from being techie, im much more comfortable working with wood and not electrnics.
