Surface Pro 8 camera issues; have to constantly disable and re-enable camera driver to get it to work

I've had an on-going issue with my surface pro 8 since I first got it about 20 months ago. The camera will stop working, light will stay on. This happens quite frequently, up to a few times per hour sporadically while using the camera. I've only really been bothered by this more recently as I've been using the camera more for work.

Both front and rear-facing cameras will cease working when this happens.

Disabling and re-enabling the camera driver solves the problem temporarily, making me think it's a driver issue. I've previously attempted to uninstall and install the latest drivers to no effect.

Thank you for your time in this matter.

Thank you for reporting the issue. A fix is available through Windows Update.  For more information about updates for your Surface available through Windows Update see the Surface Pro 8 update history page.

I wish there was a way to flag answers by Microsoft that are objectively detrimental. Some poor sod is going to waste hours reinstalling his OS--possibly losing some important files in the process--because Microsoft set up a bot/emerging economy tech support center to copy-paste give generic advice.

Go to device manager , then disable the camera driver then enable it again.

Funny. Yes, you can do that. I do that or reset my camera computer multiple times a day, restart my computer. Not a solution but a time consuming band aid.

Microsoft has a problem it needs to FIX. It will not own its problem nor will it fix it. I loved my surface pro (2nd and 1st) but Will Tell People NOT TO PURCHASE BECAUSE MICROSOFT WILL NOT FIX A KNOWN PROBLEM. THIS LIGHT WEIGHT TABLET IS NOT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE FEEQUEAT NEED FOR ZOOM, TEAMS, GOOGLE OR OTHER VIDEO MEETINGS. THE CAMERA INSTALLED DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS AOFTWARE UPDATES ANE THE UPDATED DRIVERS SO NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.

MICROSOFT SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED. THEIR COMPUTER AND CAMERA DO NOT WORK WITH THEIR SOFTWARE UPDATES. IT WAS GOOD AND THEY BROKE IT.

I do that as the time. It didn't help when the camera freezes during a meeting. Disabling and then enabling didn't work during meetings without leaving meetings and rejoining. This is not a solution to a problem that is ongoing.
