Surface Pro 7 randomly freezes while using the Zoom app

Brand new surface pro for about 2 weeks and I've experienced some random freezes while using the Zoom teaching app. For some reason, each time this happens the audio continues to work but nothing on the surface screen or keyboard is responsive and I'm forced to shutdown and restart each time. Support recommended that I run a recovery tool but that didn't do anything to fix my problem. Does this sound like more of a Zoom problem or a surface problem?

Anyone else have a similar issue and fixed it?

Thanks for sharing your experience. My issues with using my Surface Pro 7 with Zoom were manifest back in mid-Novembr. I'm not sure when or which Zoom updates may have made things worse for the SP7.

Although frustrated I spent so much money for the device and it doesn't do what I need it to do, much less better than my Surface Pro 4, the fact that I still have the old SP4 has still allowed my to use OneNote shared screen while running a Zoom class. Thus I haven't been nearly as frantic about finding as solution to why my Surface Pro 7 freezes up incessantly.

I truly wish either Microsoft and/or Zoom would come up with a solution to this issue. After all, the Surface product line seems to be the ultimate solution to remote instruction for the sciences, the screen freeze/OneNote issue notwithstanding. Since I've already spent the money on the SP7, I can't currently justify putting even more money into switching to Apple products, at least not at this point. I have been a loyal PC user for several decades and I would be profoundly disappointed to make a complete platform switch. Unfortunately, I may have to...

I don't think you need to switch to Apple.. I switched to surface laptop and it's been great.

MrSamGray, Too late now, i already bought Macbook Pro 1TB for myself and IPAD PRO 256G (mac os not ipad os) for my daughter, its been great for her and no more issues.

My SP7 still at home and can not be returned so we are using as alternate for my son’s HP laptop.

I will check MS laptop next time.

I've found that using an Ethernet was the problem.   Fine just on WiFi.

I found that the ethernet cable was the problem.   The network adapter is ****.  Everything runs fine on WiFi now.
