Surface Pro 7 randomly freezes while using the Zoom app

Brand new surface pro for about 2 weeks and I've experienced some random freezes while using the Zoom teaching app. For some reason, each time this happens the audio continues to work but nothing on the surface screen or keyboard is responsive and I'm forced to shutdown and restart each time. Support recommended that I run a recovery tool but that didn't do anything to fix my problem. Does this sound like more of a Zoom problem or a surface problem?

Anyone else have a similar issue and fixed it?

I work for a company with a few hundred sales employees who have a Surface device.  We have had to replace over 100 of these Surfaces due to this issue.  We stopped issuing the Surface because it continually has problems when used with Zoom Meetings.  We've tried all the suggestions provided here, running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, uninstalling and reinstalling Zoom, and trying it via Ethernet through the Surface dock.  Switching the user to an HP laptop (any model) resolves the issue so it's not related to their home network environment and it is not a Zoom issue.  This doesn't happen with every Surface but enough that we stopped purchasing them and deploying them to our users last year.  If you just recently purchased one and can't get the issue resolved, I'd suggest trying to get a replacement for the Surface, and if you have the same issue on the 2nd one, request a refund and get a laptop instead.

    This is my second note:

Microsoft sent me a totally stupid mail asking me to reinstall the surface to remove the issue.

I did it and guess what? Nothing changed (of course). It took me hours to be back to initial config after reinstalling all software...

Microsoft is doing nothing. They sell a product that is not working and worst than that, it is creating trouble in several professional environments (you're in a middle of a strategic presentation and it freezes!)

Immediate consequences: I've been able to STOP many colleagues and friends buying this ****. Microsoft is loosing tens of sales, just because they don't take care of me... We are hundreds in this case and these are thousands of sales lost.

DON'T BUY Surfaces ANYMORE. This can become a DANGEROUS product that can make you loss your credibility in front of customers.

Note. I tried an OLD lenovo (6 years old) laptop... Works like a charm...

My wife has been a Mac person for years, however, as she does training over the net she wanted to write on the screen during presentations so she bought a Surface Book 3. For the first few months, Zoom worked well, and then in the last week Zoom can no longer be relied on - freezing and dropping out and going slow. We have tried everything. She has gone back to her Mac as it works, along with my desktop works which both manage Zoom, it is just the Surface having the problem. I've not been able to find the solution through this site.

I don't think my wife will ever buy a Microsoft PC again, there is no service.

The dock is a thunderbolt 3 but NOT the surface.

    Take care.

I have found that this dock works perfectly with the ethernet cable connected https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08JLWCNNP
