Those .exe files are .NET applications. When the program is compiled using .NET, it gives it ".exe" as the file extension. That file extension means nothing other than for your reference that it is an "executable".
As for the jailbreak, disregard it. That was about a year and a half ago they came out with it and what have you heard of it since then? Nothing. There is almost nothing to recompile. The same goes for an Android emulator that was supposed to come out
for the RT class tablets. That didn't go anywhere either.
Right now, as we type, there is only project in the works for the RT class tablets; Pear OS. That is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu that looks and functions similar to OS/X. It is a piece of junk actually for the regular computers but that development
teams is projecting to make a version of that distribution that will function for the RT class tablets. That will be a dead end project that will not come about. The RT tablets do not have a BIOS to designate a boot drive, and Linux has to boot up in a system
in order to install.
That is the only effort going on now for these machines.
If Microsoft can sell enough tablets to keep selling out at the rate they are doing now, third party companies may start developing software that will be installable in the RT class tablets. They can do it now, but they won't. Some people think these tablets
are going to take over the market but you have to sell more than 10 million of them to even register on the market scope. The initial batch of 2nd generation machines where only 5 million units. That number was not broken down if it was for each model (Surface
2 and Surface Pro 2) or total.
If companies do start making programs for them, you will see that they will install in the machine with no problems. There are no blocks to prevent it.
You do have to remember that you also have very limited storage as well. That cannot be expanded internally but you can add micro-SD cards and USB pendrives/external hard disks. The capabilities are there, the companies only have to do it. You can contact
the customer service of companies and ask them if they will.
